FTLOSBW Ponders Direction Change

Editors of FTLOSBW are contemplating changing the scope and direction for the site, no longer focusing on Minnnesota sports etc. and putting energies into the world's of scrapbooking, philately, and general botany. While none of these areas of concentration are interests of any of the current posters to the site they will serve as a calm distraction from the pain of being a Minnesota sports fan. More to come . . .

We sold our souls when we started rooting for Favre while wearing the purple and white. Sure, everything was great in the regular season last year, but then as all deals with the devil there are unanticipated consequences. In this case it was being sucker punched right out of the Super Bowl. Admit it you thought we were going to kick a field goal and make it.

We had the chance to get out of our deal, but we were so close we could taste it, so we doubled down. Another offseason of will he or won't he played out. When he finally came back, the team has sucked and acted nothing like last years team. It is like the little kid in Pet Semetary. So I ask you, are you still happy with the deal you made with the devil?

It's funny...on one hand, I feel like this will be a lost season, for all the reasons RTS lists above as well as the brutal schedule. On the other, I feel like we're the best 1-3 team in the NFL.

The first 3 quarters of last night's game were the worst I've watched since 41-doughnut at the meadowlands in 2001. Two dropped snaps/handoffs, NO offensive creativity, and no execution. Our defense deserves tons of credit for holding the Jets to 5 FGs. Bend-but-don't-break at its best. At the end, you could just tell they were gassed, though, as they'd been on the field for way too much time.

My hope is that the offense is finally figuring it out...if Harvin can stay healthy, I think the WR corps will come around. AP again looked pretty good...he just didn't get enough opportunities last night.

I need to flush the entire last 7 days of sports from my mind. Awful. NU loss to a horrible team, Vikes loss, Twins loss...

This post is right on the money, dudes.

I'm currently in one of my 2-3x annually "Time out for Reality" stage, wherein I swear off sports out of depression/rage/disappointment for a couple weeks before re-engaging. You guys should try it - it's quite refreshing.

Did I feel like kind of a nerd watching my DVR'ed "New Scandinavian Cook" and reading The Economist with a glass of Rioja last Saturday night? Sure. But, you know what? It was better than watching you know what happen over on TBS and having to listen to Ron Darling again. And I'm sure it was better than watching NU drop one to Purdue at home. What do we get out of sports fandom, again?

BG - Dallas may disagree with your statement about being the best 1-3 team in the NFL, but I guess we'll find out this weekend.

Actually, I guess you'll find out. I'll be doing some soap carvings and organizing my butterfly collection.

MCA - Succinctly put: "Time out for Reality" stage, wherein I swear off sports out of depression/rage/disappointment for a couple weeks before re-engaging."

At least twice in the past three weeks I have texted blog members saying something to the effect of "Big Minnesota sports weekend, be nice for the (Twins/Vikes/Gophers/Lynx) to win" only to get shut out.

Should we start to following/rooting for Noble candidates? I'm pulling for Hu Jia a Chinese blogger and human rights activist, sentenced last year to 3½ years in prison for “inciting subversion of state power."
