Let's get it on: Twins v. Yankees

Round 7 of this match-up, well, it feels that way at least. I like us, I like us a lot because we got Joe and we got Jim (and what the hell else am I suppose to do?)

Thoughts?

BTW - as DTK can attest, I am killing this song on heavy rotation (click here) but I can't get over it's hook. It's my unofficial Twins 2010 playoff song, odd, I know but . . .

First of all, fuck the Yankees and their entitled fans. This is the year to turn over that curse - homefield the first two games, better team, new stadium, ailing Pettitte, mess of a rotation at 3 and 4 for NY. If we can beat Sabathia, we're better than 50/50 to win this series.

Also, fuck all this love the Rangers are getting. That team is absolutely screaming one and done. Why is everyone licking Texas' nuts while just taking it for granted Twins are handing the Yankees a broom with a smile on their faces? Fuck that. Cliff Lee has sucked most of the second half, and no other pitcher on that team has a single playoff start. Hamilton just came back and could be rusty or could be a total flake in the playoffs - he's never faced pressure like this. They won 4 less games than us in an inferior division and open on the road against David Price and Matt Garza. There's no one else in their lineup with an OPS over about .850. Fuck them. They've got mediocrity written all over them - they're no different than the '03-'04 Twins. I'm tired of hearing about them, to the point of reversing my previous position of wanting to see them do well for the sake of getting the franchise to the Series for the first time as long as it isn't at the Twins' expense. I'm done with that.

I hope the Twins are posting all the bulletin board material out there. NO ONE is giving them a chance, despite their having won 94 games and having the best record in the majors the second half without the best hitter in the American League. Go out and earn some respect, 'cause absolutely no one's giving it to you.

Welcome back, MCA!! That is what I like to see...and I'm guessing this is the kind of angst that builds up when kid #3 arrives, and doesn't sleep, combined with cranky kids #1 and #2 starving for some attention.

The prevailing mood in Mpls is that if there was ever a year to take down the Yankees, this is it. Our large ballpark may neutralize some of their offensive pop, and their pitching is a bit of a mess. I like the fact that we have faced Sabathia so many times over the past decade. Bring it, fat boy. Phil Hughes in game 2? Bring it, rookie (or near-rookie). Pettite still scares me, even if he's injured. His record vs. the Twins is unreal...then again, whose isn't when they are wearing Yankee pinstripes.

Agree on Texas. Really? Sweep. Sweep. Sweep.

I will try to pull together a Target Field and TCF Bank Stadium recap this week. In short - the Twin Cities went from worst to at least upper half of the nation in quality of stadia with the erection of these two beauties.

Jan - I exchanged pleasantries with your wife's godparents on Friday (during my private tour of the Bank) and Saturday (in the DQ Club before the game).

To echo MCA's point -- I was watching ESPN coverage two days ago and they were asking buster olney which teams had things to worry about going into the playoffs, and he said NY and TB. He didn't even consider the twins worthy of saying it should worry them that their pitching has given up a season's worth of runs in the last two weeks.
