Vikes 2008 Schedule

Without even looking at the games, I'd wager 9-7.

However, game by game -
Sept. 8: Vikings at Green Bay - Loss; Enter the Aaron Rogers era.
Sept. 14: Indianapolis at Vikings - Loss (blowout); you kidding me?
Sept. 21: Carolina at Vikings - Loss; just have a feeling we start 0-3
Sept. 28: Vikings at Tennessee - Win; NFL loves parity
Oct. 6: Vikings at New Orleans - Win (ugly); Plus, someone on the Vikes has an 'off the field issue' in the big easy
Oct. 12: Detroit at Vikings (noon, FOX) - Win; they suck
Oct. 19: Vikings at Bears (noon, FOX) - Win; they suck too
Oct. 26: BYE - 50% chance we somehow lose this too
Nov. 2: Houston at Vikings - Loss; somehow us not getting Sage Rosenfels as a backup has to haunt us and here it is.
Nov. 9: Green Bay at Vikings - Win; just because I gotta believe
Nov. 16: Vikings at Tampa Bay - Loss; they still have our number from their NFC Central days
Nov. 23: Vikings at Jacksonville - Loss; Garrard "out duels" TJac (more like "crushes")
Nov. 30: Chicago at Vikings - Loss; just because we won the other one
Dec. 7: Vikings at Detroit - Win; they really do suck
Dec. 14: Vikings at Arizona - Win; after all we would be on the playoff bubble at this point and the Vikes love to tease the Purple hopeful.
Dec. 21: Atlanta at Vikings - Win; why not
Dec. 28: N.Y. Giants at Vikings - Loss; last year was a fluke

Game by game = 8-8; what a surprise

That first game against the Pack, is all about the Pack and has nothing to do with the Vikes from a media standpoint. The Pack could be playing the Iowa Barnstormers for all they care. I would not doubt it if there was a moment of silence to start the game. If you are planning a trip to the middle of nowhere, the week leading up to this might be the week to go.

I bet the Vikes take the Brett Farve tribute game, as AP runs rough right through the Pack D. Despite AP's big game all you will hear is "You just can't replace a guy like Brett Farve. Aaron Rodgers will be good and play along time in this league. Not many guys have a mentor like Brett Farve. It is just going to take some time."

After this win, with Vikes spirits high, I see the Vikings dropping at least the next two to bring the fans back down to earth.

I agree. Karma will allow us to win just to spite the earth shattering hype and sentimentality of it all. AP and Chester will go for 180+ and 3 TDs. In the end, of course, it will just provide more reason for everyone to exclaim how great Favre was, as Rogers loses his first game at Lambeau at Brett wouldn't let that happen.

How many times will we get to hear the phrases "big shoes to fill" and "emerging from the shadow of Brett Favre" this preseason in discussions of Rogers?

I already shudder thinking about the commentary. I might try to listen to it on WCCO instead.

I think 9-7 can happen (not that 9-7 guarantees a playoff berth or anything). If we can pick up a D-lineman in the draft, I like the D and I like T-Jac with another year under his belt. Could we possibly regress from last year? It's possible, but have a small bit of faith in Childy-nuts...

BTW, our strength of schedule is 4th in the NFL. Aren't you supposed to get an easier schedule when you suck the prior year? And how do the packers have an easier schedule than us? Granted, the NFC North plays the AFC South and NFC South out of division, which leaves only 2 "at large" games...but you'd think we'd get Arizona and SF again rather than the Giants.
