And true to form, the Tigers light up the Twins . . .

And I quote "Granted being 0-6 doesn't help but the Twins are on a 8 game road swing that ends with 2 games in Rock City next Monday and Tuesday, by then you can assume we will be lining up for the 'buzz saw' of that offense." Who said this you might ask? Well, little ole me in my post on April 7. Just watched the Twins bullpen collapse and the Tigers come back not once but twice from being down by 4 runs to win 11 to 9. What is scary is that the Tigers' players were acting like they were in the World Series (I now hate Pudge.) But we all knew this was going to happen, right? Sportscenter highlights are going to be all about how the Twins have awoken a sleeping giant and the Tigers are back on track. Quintessential part of being a Minnesota fan. Yes, I get it that it is April 14 but Jimminy Christmas!

The last score I saw before I went to bed was 9-4. While I figured there would be more scoring, I was still chalking it up to a Twins win. Matt Guerrier gets credited with an H for only giving up 5 runs in 1 and 1/3. That is like counting the forfeit I accepted freshman year of wrestling to raise my record to 3-6. Nicely done Gurerrier. This one definitely left a mark, mostly on Neshek's and Guerrier's ERA. While 4 runs in 5 2/3 is nothing to write home about, Blackburn should be 2-1 instead of 0-1. I guess that is a positive.

It must have been free bat day at the Royals on Saturday. Attendance was 36,300, 89% full, for Saturday's game. It dropped to 13,886, 34% full, for Sundays game.

How frustrating is that result? I was about to post in the Everett thread that apparently Nick Blackburn is now our ace, and then he gave up four runs with two outs in the 6th. Then I was about to post a "nice offensive explosion, gents" post when I left the office. Good thing I did neither.

And, yes, this game is the moment our Minnesota Twins took the collective MLB's foot off the 2008 Detroit Tigers' neck, gave them a pat on the ass and sent them on their way to 97 wins. Well done. I was just imagining how livid Leyland was going to be after they gave up four runs in the 7th to give back what they just got, and enjoying the thought. And then this.

Guerrier is having problems. So is most of the rest of the 'pen. Can we panic yet? Or is that generally off-limits this year, since we have no expectations anyway?

Dudes...totally demoralizing. I had that same feeling that I had when Ruben Sierra hit that bomb in the playoffs a few years ago. I think it might be time to panic, as our bullpen was supposed to be the one true strength of this club.

THen again, without expectations, can we truly ever panic?

I have no doubt that DEtroit will win 8 of their next 10 games.

UGGGHHHH, I left the office at 9-5 and walked confidantly over to the Y, expecting to catch the final score on the ticker as I watched the Red Sox come back on the tribe in fron of the treadmill... and then I saw it scroll across the screen 9 to 11, 9th inning...WTF, did I see that right?...maybe it said 9 to 1, and the Tigers were penalized 4 runs for playing so bad...that seems more likely than our bullpen giving up 6 runs in one inning doesn't it?

no expectations, no expectations (repeat 10 times in a calming voice)

It really has to be about no expectations, right? If we were rational we would say this year is about getting Go-Go and our staff in order. Yes, the pen is in great shape and Nathan will help with confidence for our starters to get wins but. . . I guess it's all the 'winning' this club has done that makes us feel like they should compete. However, last night's game has got to be demoralizing. I blame Denard Span. On a bright note, we did score 9 runs.

The turnaround appears complete - Detroit with 11 runs and only in the 7th tonight against the Tribe. You're welcome for the boost, Motor City.
