Vikes v. Pack Round 1 - 2010

Well, our chance to make a move in the NFC Norris has come and gone. I didn't see one play of the game but read enough to know that I missed Favre basically be Favre. If we can win at New England (and that is a big IF, believe me) we end up at 3-4 with 3 games left against the Packers and Bears (and both of those teams starting some tough stretches.)

I'll remain the true Vikes fan that I am and whistle past the grave yard and say we end up at 10 and 6 and the division title.

Wouldn't we all be happier if we didn't follow sports?

I watched both NU/MSU and Iowa/UW before leaving on my trip so I would have "yes, yes we would."

Yeah...pretty much a terrible weekend for my (die hard) teams. The Giants provided a momentary escape (more to come in a separate post), but it's tough to watch NU blow a 10 point 4th quarter lead against the #7 team in the country and then watch the Vikes self-destruct yet again. RTS - I am guessing you are feeling the same way.

I can't believe I am going to admit this, but all the Mark Schlereths of the world have been right about the Vikes. Every good break and clutch play from last year is going the opposite way this year. I don't know what else to say. Favre is killing us...yes, he's making some good playes, but he's also making some HORRENDOUS decisions. Apparently, the pick 6 throw was designed to go to Harvin on the other side of the field and he changed the call. Awesome.

BTW, cheers to the defense for making adjustments and holding the packer offense to SEVEN points in the 2nd half. The 4th and inches stuff was beautiful. Also, cheers to Harvin for being an absolute stud. I am loving how involved he is becoming in this offense. The TD run was a great call...why don't we run that trap play with AP? These stretch play handoffs are not working. Oh - and I liked how Gerhart looked...

I could go on forever. Most talented 2-4 team of all time. They need to find a way against the Pats.

As MCA just pointed out in an email, perhaps my praise for the defense is a bit misguided, since many of their "stops" were due to Rodgers' inaccuracy.

When was the last time we sacked a QB?

The karmic payoff for the Favre signing is here. Yippee.

Belichick and Brady will perform an appendectomy on this defense next week if the line doesn't improve. You think the Packers were picking on Frank Walter? Just wait.

If you have a chance to watch that game, don't. You won't regret spending the time getting the kids ready for trick-or-treating. If something miraculous happens, you'll have dvr'ed it and can watch later.

- Forever The Vikes Pessimist

Can we get a reading on the Chuck G Minnesota Sports Fandomomoter right now? I'm guessing it's between 0 and 1, and would be at a solid 0 were it not for the fact the Gopher football team is starting the process of moving on.

Well, Favre has fractures in his ankle and in a boot and now day to day. Let the TJac era begin.

Damn. I was pretty excited to drop him for a bye week kicker in fantasy BEFORE he was actually not playing any more.
