As the days roll by, the Brett Favre saga seems to get stranger and stranger. Now the soap opera has shifted to a new level.
In the latest twist, the Packers have filed tampering charges with the league office against the Minnesota Vikings for alleged communication with Favre, still technically a member of Green Bay, FOXSports.com has learned. The league, according to a source, is currently in information-gathering mode, speaking to members of both teams.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press that the league had no public comment on the report. Packers general manager Ted Thompson declined to comment on tampering rumors in an interview with the AP on Saturday.
The Vikings were informed late last week that the allegation is that Favre has had inappropriate dialogue with Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, a close Favre friend and former assistant coach with the Packers. Favre has sought his release from Green Bay and several rumors have swirled that Minnesota is his targeted landing place, largely due to his relationship with Bevell.

As you can imagine, this is blowing up in Vikingslandia. People don't think anything is going to come of this tampering deal as it is going to be kinda hard to prove tampering when the two are friends (be like me tampering with LH's career and pointing to this blog as the means of illicit communication.)
What is shocking to me is the number of Vikings fans who are saying they would take Favre on the squad if we could get him. Listening to KFAN on the way in, SuperStar Mike Morris and 'CCO sports dude Mark Rosen both said they would take him this year if we could get him. WTF! ! !
My significant other asked me my thoughts (yes, she is that awesome that she follows this stuff) and I told her I won't root for him if he is in Purple. How could you? This is like if Darth Vader got the boot from the Dark Side after the first Death Star was blown up and all of a sudden he wants to help out the rebel forces and Ewoks defend the forest moon of Endor from Death Star part Deux. Just not going to happen.

Imagine if Farve was a Viking and a scenario like last years NFC championship played out, where Farve throws an INT to lose the game. On what level of hell does that belong? I think my head might explode Scanners style.

Worst case scenario here is we get docked a mid-round draft pick...but I think they are going to have a hard time proving anything. The two dudes are allowed to talk...they're buddies. The packers are just trying to deflect attention from the mess they have on their hands and blame the Vikes for "making" Favre want to un-retire. Boooo.
