Twin v Tigers

Items -

1. Day Game! Fire up GameCast

2. Nice win last night. Baker was solid.

3. The bullpen implosion two nights ago was pitiful. I'm sure Gardy and Andy didn't want to use 5 pitchers in the 6th (or maybe it was the 7th.) I started to have confidence in the Crain - Reyes - Guerrier mix but got a little less confident on that "Reliever Sandwich" (particularly the Crain part.) What was hilarious is that Reyes came out and sat on the bench next to Crain and the two of them looked like they had just run a 10k, they were sweating and had that "did I just throw to 2 batters and give up 1 run?" look on their faces.

4. I hate to say this but are the CWS ever going to slow down? How much power does that lineup have? Yikes.

Soemtimes it is tough to get the feel of a game only checking gamecast every so often. It seemed like last nights game should have been a blowout had the Twins not hit into 5 double plays.

While I know Perkins, Slowey and Baker are not all created equal, I do not feel there is a real weak spot in the rotation. I think Hernandez scares me the most.

Big one today. The betting line says the Twins are the favorite; Accuscore shows the Twins as the dog.

Batting stance guy, dead on. Hilarious.

Dudes...as RTS mentioned, batting stance guy is amazing! Go watch it if you haven't. Morneau and Puckett are so dead-on I was laughing out loud.

Monday night's game was a crusher. That is a game that we NEVER blew two years ago. We have to win those...only a win today dulls the pain.

Watched the last two games and the bullpen implosion was brutal. RTS - yes, last night should have been a blow out, it was a matter of time before the Twins scored some runs.

Would like to comment on the amount of speed we have with Span, Gomez, and Casillas hitting 9-1-2 respectively. Wow, those mother fers are fast. Mauer/Morneau just salivate with those three.

My favorite is "Fattest Kent Hrbek."

Looking good today. Granted nothing came of it because of another double play, but I love Gomez starting the game off with a bunt single.

Speaking of startiung teh game off, how about Span's catch to start the game two night's ago? Talk about having to be ready for the first pitch.

Holy Blackburn!! I was worried that he may never be the same after getting drilled in the melon, but he looks to be fully recovered. Also, how funny is to see Boof mopping up in the ninth?!?

Great clutch hitting again (even Punto)...too bad this wasn't a sweep. I guess I'll take the 2-out-of-3 anytime against a streaking team like that.

Thoughts on the game -

1. Agreed - Bonser was #2/#3 out of Spring Training. He gets mop up duty now. I guess 30 lbs lighter doesn't help you stay in the rotation.

2. I texted BG last night "how over is punto's mlb career"? Definitely need to examine his stint in the bigs. He was solid today but watching him play you can tell he is trying soooooooo hard. His bat throwing and helmet tossing and sitting on the bench pissed off are getting old. BTW - we're paying him $2.2M this year. He is a "Gardy guy" for some reason.

3. Agree that Hernandez is the weak link the in rotation as "ace" but honestly I think the young guns are learning from the crafty veteran. Nice work Nick Blackburn.

here, here... nice win and nice to see Balckburn back to form after "the incident".

As soft as Livan is, he doesn't worry me that much...I tmight be my low expectations, cause I don't think there is any secret to what he gives you: an innings eater who is going to get crushed some nights, but all in all, is smart enough to keep the majority of hitters off balance a majority of the time. I think he had a streak there of 5 or so games when he couldn't do anything right, but he's done a nice job since then... crafty veteran has adjusted.

It still amazes me that he can pitch effectively in MLB with a low to mid 80s fastball... that's inspiring for all of us 60+ mph pitchers who are waiting for their chance.

See Garza's gem the other night? Me neither. (Uggh)

RTS - are you getting emails about FFL?!? PW said you hadn't responded to draft date requests...

Yeah, Garza lit it up again. That trade, while still even overall (barely), is starting to worry me. D. Young needs to step up.
