Few quick Twins thoughts

1. At $80M we got Morneau for a steal. We win the AL Central and he is gonna get his 2nd MVP.

2. Could one more f'ing player hurt their hand? Casilla might be done for the season. As an early Casilla-basher, the little guy has grown on me. Can Punto continue to shine at the plate?

3. Is there one member of the Pale Hoes that you like? As my wife put it: "They all look ugly and like they're total assholes in real life."

4. Never thought I would say this but Go-Go running full boar into the wall in Cleveland might have been the best thing to happen to him.

5. Honestly, call up Liriano. We rarely make a move at the deadline in a trade so why not unleash the "F Bomb."

6. Not Twins related but - Man, the Angels are scary now.

1. So clutch.

2. That is going to hurt. I would imagine Buscher plays 3rd, Punto SS, Harris back to full time second and Adam Everett backs everyone up (he was headed to AAA had this not happened). So does Gomez move back to #1 and Span bats second?

3. AJ is the perfect fit for the CWS. The have to be #2 on the list of most hated next to Farve.

4. No comment

5. Livan is the one who gets bumped right? Win-win tonight, if he does well we win, if he blows goats maybe it pushes Liriano a little closer.

6. Angels being hot only helps us. We suck against them even when they are cold, so it is not like we will drop more games than normal on the upcoming road trip. The upside is they are beating up teams that could contend for the WC.

1. Every time I look up at the highlights, he's at the plate. I love it...and I love that he goes about it quietly (unlike Manny or A-Rod or whomever else you want to pick).

2. Honestly, this is unelievable. ANOTHER hand injury? Casilla has been a huge spark for us...this one sucks.

3. Their whole team is scruffy, ugly, annoying, etc. Perfect for much of their fan base.

4. Did this provide the much-needed break? Or do you think it literally knocked some sense into him and calmed him down? I think he stays where he is. Span is hitting too well, and his OBP is nd only to Mauer's on the team.

5. I would say it has to be Livan, no?

6. Agree about the Angels...we have to play them in late August, but other than that they can beat down everyone else for us.

One last bitch...and this is nothing new (since we bring it up about once every month). I got home late last night and watched sportscenter to catch the Twins highlights. I waited...and waited...and waited. And finally, after about a half-hour, following Favre news, Lackey's almost No-hitter, NL Central, NL East and even NL WEST (!?!?) there we were. No commentary, no nothing. I was shocked. This race is the closest in baseball right now (along with Phillies/Mets), and it's like nothing is happening. Meanwhile, they are treating Cubs/Brewers like it's the NLCS. I just don't get it. The Baseball Tonight guys give us tons of love, but I just don't understand how this series hasn't gotten more publicity.

I like being under the radar - don't get me wrong - it's part of our gig. But c'mon! Every once in a while it would be nice to get lead billing.

Big hit by Mauer last night, too, driving in what ended up the game-winning run. Morneau has to be the most unheralded top 10 in the game guy in any sport right now.

I kind of like Jermaine Dye. He's different than your average White Sox.

Definitely too bad about Casilla. Agree with rts on the infield set, but I think you might see Buscher or someone in the 2 spot (Punto was there last night) and Span leading off.

Bring up Francisco.

This week, I'm not going to get jazzed up about our lack of national exposure. Right now I'm thinking until we actually go beat some of the teams who get top billing, we don't deserve top billing ourselves.

I've come to admire the Angels as an organization. They spend a lot these days, but they've been immensely successful over the last 6 or 7 years, and done it pretty under the radar. You can't pooh-pooh their WS title as much anymore. I still mock the fan base, but as an organization they're getting it done, big time.

One moment from last night that stuck with me was in the 9th when Nathan was going against Swisher (I hated that D-bag and his D-bag look when he played for the A's) and Nathan kept throwing smoke and Swisher kept fouling it off. Literally the pitch before Swisher absolutely crushed one, I asked myself if I were the manager would I have Nathan throw him some breaking stuff or just keep throwing the heat; 10 times out of 10 I said I would take Nathan and his heat/control any day of the week and twice on Sunday's. Even after the dinger I still believe that. Nice to have three players (M&M and Joe) that you know will deliver the majority of the time.
