FTLOSBW to Football Gods: Cease and Desist

Prior to Monday Night's game against the Bears (which is fraught with potential to be the latest installment in the 2010 Vikings list of embarrassments, we're suppose to get 4 to 8 inches of snow now) FTLOSBW has issued a Cease and Desist.

To: Football Gods

Date: December 19, 2010

Pursuant to my rights under the National Football League Fan Appreciation Brochure, I am requesting that you cease and desist communication with my football team. You are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Minnesota Attorney General’s office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued.

Signed: FTLOSBW

Witnessed: The internet

Are you ready for some football?
Seriously, are we ready for some Monday night football? Is the stadium ready? What is the status?

All I can tell you is that Bears fans were already peeved that they might have to play outside and the league apparently didn't taking their delicate feelings and obviously biased opinion into account in determining to play at the Bank. So today the local media have latched onto our punter tweeting about how the turf is "unplayable" like he's the f'ing Commissioner or something. I heard it on freaking public radio. God, this town is full of ridiculous people during football season. Do you hear Mike Ditka bitching and moaning about a little snow and ice? Play the damned game, whiners. You've caught more lucky breaks this year than any team in memory and now you're crying about an unexpected event that's impacted your opponent more than you, a supposed cold weather team? Just STFU already.

It's gonna feel like the '70's on TV tonight. I hope Gruden shows up with a big fake mustache and a plaid sport coat over a maroon turtle neck.

Few things:

1. When did someone decide that Chris Kluwe was a fucking football player? If I was Jared Allen I would get Pat Williams and tape Kluwe to a goal post for an hour before the game.

2. Last night they had the 50 greatest Vikings celebration event. A lot were Bud Grant-era Vikings. They questioned out loud the toughness of the today's Vikings. I like that.

3. It started snowing at 9 am this morning. Gonna be half an inch an hour during the game. It's gonna be great.

4. I think by the way that the Giants imploded yesterday shows the Football Gods have taken our Cease and Desist seriously (even if it was issued after the game.)

5. Not to get FFL on you but nice of Ray Rice to show up week 14.

Apprently Zygi hit it out of the park with last night's 50 greatest tribute (well, that or at least nothing bad happened.) How cool would it be to own a team and throw an event like that. Zygi and his brother are so excited about tonight's game they're going to sit in the stands. Even with all the shit going on, how much does this guy love owning the Vikings?

Of allthe people allowed to express concern about the playing surface, Kluwe absolutely is NOT one of them, as his uniform will be clean and dry at the end of the game. As MCA said, STFU already. I bet Tarkenton, Foreman, Page and Eller had a field day yesterday. You think they had "heating coils" at the old Met stadium? F NO!!

Bears fans need to simmer down. They are the worst 9-4 team in history, and they might win the division simply because Aaron Rodgers got hurt. Bears lost by 100 to the Pats at home and the packers almost beat them with Flynn at QB. Wow...did I just defends the fudgepackers? Someone punch me in the face. That's what this season has come to...

Can't wait for tonight...and I love that Zygi knocked it out of the park with the 50 greatest Vikings celebration.

MCA - great call on the broadcast. They should use the old graphics as well, along with those awful gold sport coats.

"That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?"

Of course I was refering to Toby Gerhart weaving his way through traffic.

ESPN has already started the "29 years ago" stuff but I'm not sure that they have the balls for an out-and-out throwback broadcast. If they did, my respect for them as a sports outlet (which has been on the wane) would increase dramatically. Have a little fun with it.

Relatively impartial outsider here: it's tough to complain about other fans complaining, when your team's PUNTER is whining about the safety of the conditions. Bears fans are as delusional as any that I know but Kluwe opened the door wide open (after the team appropriately asked him not to say anything). They would have complained anyway but now they have a legit excuse. Plus, it's not really a rivalry if the fans don't bitch about the other fans.
