HHH to Minnesota: "Maybe you didn't hear me. Take my name off this piece of shit. Like, remove it from books and stuff. I'm not kidding anymore."

Who wants to bet that that whole piece of shit roof needs to be replaced? Let's get some Gamblor odds on that one.

Zygi's worst nightmare. People are going to start saying that team needs to just move to TCF.

Here is what I've been hearing (again, not my opinion, what I've been hearing):

1. If there is to be a new stadium, the current Metrodome site is where it is going to go (the city of MPLS has a $200 million investment in infrastructure that it wants to utilize.)

2. The citizens of MPLS and Hennepin won't be footing the bill for this one. So all my aunts and uncles from the Range who don't care about the Vikes but care deeply about their snowmobile trails will be asked to pony up.

3. Going with Metrodome II, the Vikes would have to play in TCF for at least a year (opinion: if they're smart, tear down the Dome tomorrow and get going.) Moving to TCF means that over the Summer the U is going to have to put heating coils under the turf as the Vikes season goes into the winter.

4. Heating coils - as awesome as TCF is (it is a great venue) they apparently skimped on this one major piece. By not installing heating coils they are having issues with the freezing of the the field etc. which means they can't really play into the winter months. The Gopher's played Iowa on November 27th. We were in the middle of winter then, no coils?

5. People up here BITCH about fucking everything.

This whole fiasco will definitely accelerate the stadium debate, for good or bad. In our favor is the fact that LA can't get its act together either, so as of now, there is no viable stadium plan there. While the NFL is a money-hungry greed machine, I do think they will do whatever they can to keep the team in MN. As NFL attendance continues to sag and more and more people choose to just watch at home, the league needs to preserve the few remaining natural rivalries that it has (e.g. Bears-Packers, Vikes-Packers, Vikes-Bears, Giants-Eagles, Pats-Jets, etc.). As such, LA VIkings vs. Packers doesn't really move the needle.

Here's the dream scenario:

Monday night goes so well (and we somehow win in frigid cold weather with no quarterback), and ABC/ESPN create a bunch of buzz about MNF returning to the frozen Norse plains and the propitiousness of the Vikings playing their big gala 50th anniversary game outdoors and honoring Alan Page and Jim Marshall and all that, that the Dome deflating comes to be seen as a blessing in disguise and/or a sign from Odin himself that we need to get our butts back outside for Vikings football. All of the Twin Cities and Vikings fan base becomes riled up about this, creating momentum to get a new stadium done one way or another.

Make it happen up there, Jan and DTK. We're counting on you.
