Epic

New Twins song from Craig Finn. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect lyrically in a Twins song from Craig Finn. In honor of the early clinch and being tied for the best record in baseball with 10 games to go, here you go...

Happy to just ignore football a couple more weeks and put off the "should we go ahead and start T-Jac now?" and "is there any chance in hell Dungy would even think about taking the Gopher job?" discussions. Thank you, as always, Twins.

Also, look forward to a thread (possibly tomorrow) wherein I get off my chest some thoughts regarding the news of Penn State going D-I in hockey, and the Big Ten's immediate response of whipping out its big dick and threatening to toss some WCHA/CCHA salad.

Good tune. I would love to see it put to some Twins highlights.

I had not heard anything about the college hockey stuff. It is has anything to do with all the Big Ten teams going to a Big Ten hockey conference, I am very against it.

I like the tune, totally cheeseball but good. There is a song that the Twins play at the stadium and on their broadcasts done by GB Leighton who is a local 'rock 'n roller' and it is atrocious, this song kicks it's ass by a mile.

I thought I read somewhere that there's been such an uproar at the unbelievable lameness of GB Leighton's "song" (I've heard it - it is utter shit, the worst possible kind of pretentious, commercialized, cheese-laden garbage) that they stopped playing it a month or two ago. Is that not true? Talk about a lead balloon. Rallying point Fail.

Yes, rts, the Big Ten has come right out and started talking about forming the Big Ten Hockey Conference, now that there's the requisite 6 schools with programs. There's been news and rumors of varying levels of interest expressed by those schools (none of them have come out and opposed it), and everyone thinks if they do it, NW and Illinois are likely to try to add teams, too (Title IX permitting, I suppose).

To save myself and you from the previously advertised long-form rant, let me just say that in my not-so-humble opinion, a Big Ten hockey league would destroy most of what's good about college hockey. It would leave traditional powers without 5,000,000 alums and unlimited budgets, like NoDak and Denver, in the dust, and relegate programs at places like Lake Superior State, St. Cloud State and Alaska to permanent irrelevance. They may as well go D-II. And they'll be replaced by huge $$ programs at schools and in locations that have no intrinsic hockey culture.
