The slaughter in KC

The slaughter was bad.

How bad was it?

It was so bad the were giving away free Braves tickets on the radio to the person could come up with the funniest comment as to what Bloomquist was thinking standing in CF in the 7th inning when it was 17-0.

RTS - What were the winners?

The beating was fun to watch, actually. Felt like no matter what, the Twins were scoring at will, I liken it to Tecmo Bowl when FOB ER would choose the 49ers and do that one pass play from Joe Montana to John Taylor that was unstoppable.

Don't look now, but we've also gotten some quality starts over the past week. If Morneau can get back into the lineup, we should continue to score at a prolific rate. Good to see Mauer collect 4 hits and 7 RBI.

Knock on wood, but I think we just went the whole rotation with consecutive quality starts.

I think last night's result can go one of two ways. Either it's just building on Sunday's offensive explosion and we start barrelling forward now, Morneau comes back in a couple weeks to join the red-hot Mauer and Delmon to create the best lineup in the AL the last 60 games; or we just blew our wad, we go back to suffering with Hudson and Justin out, Span and Hardy not doing much, Mauer generally stuggling, and the pitching staff goes back pressing because they're not getting the 6 runs/game they need to be comfortable.

We need to build on the mo' right now. Having the Pavstache going against KC tonight is a good way to do that, but I could easily see a letdown occurring. He's been pitching so well he's due for a bad one, and Repko-Casilla can't hit like this forever at the top of the order.

Sorry to be so glass half full. We're playing much better, but it's only a week (against crap teams) and we're still only 8 games over. Keep in mind we were hovering at 10 over in mid-May and thinking about 95 wins.

On the plus side, the White Sox are somehow 10 games above .500 despite being only a +33 in run differential after about 100 games. Their luck will catch up with them eventually. And Detroit's in a tailspin right now.
