Vikes v. Pack Round 1

Great game and a greater outcome. Yes, Chilly did his "I manage a clock like a 9 month old baby" and went conservative at the end of the game but overall you can't argue with how the team looked and the fact that we stuck it to the Packers.

Game balls:

1. Favre - challenged to win a game with his arm and he did. Vindication.

2. Jared Allen - that big, dumb animal was scary good. 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble say it all.

3. Sidney Rice - caught a tuddy and both onside kick attempts.

4. Winfield - Buffalo let this guy go.

5. You, the fans - we deserved this one.

I know that when we signed Jared Allen he was considered a character risk because he had the DUI in KC. Looking at that guy I would say the world is lucky he only has 1 DUI.

As much as they gushed over Farve last night he really did deserve it. He shined in the big game. The defense certainly helped him out.

Funny moment of the night, Gruden said "Mcarthy is the best in the league at challenges. He is 10 for 21." One of the other annoucers mutters "that is not true."

That was pretty impressive. I think we'll see more of this, because after Cleveland every team is going to say "make Peterson beat us, or make Favre beat us?" and they'll choose the latter. It almost worked for San Fran. I think I'm beginning to realize that I didn't fully comprehend how quarterback-deficient this team has been.

Loved that goal line stand, too. Three consecutive really solid one-on-one tackles by three different linebackers.

That was Jaworski claiming it was Couglin that had the better challenge stats. Pretty funny. I think he's having a hard time adjusting to not being the first one to speak after the play's over. That said, Gruden is a revelation as an analyst. He's Madden for the 21st century. Too bad he'll be coaching again soon. I would definitely want to play for that guy if I were an NFL'er or college recruit.

RTS - From Jared Allen's Wikipedia page: "Allen has been arrested/charged for DUI a total of three times. The first was in Pocatello, Idaho on May 11, 2002. He was then arrested twice within five months in Leawood, Kansas on May 11, 2006 and on September 26, 2006. He was sentenced to 48 hours in jail as a result of the latter arrest."

The risk on him when he came here were the 2 DUI's in 2006.

You just Jaworskied my ass.

Do DUIs in Idaho count? Who or what is going to get hurt out there? 3 DUIs does seem more like it.

I'm no lawyer RTS, but it seems to be that DUIs in Idaho should not count... and it seems like the two, which occurred within 5 months of one another, should really just be counted as one since they were probably a result of just one extended drinking spree, so, therego, he really only has one DUI- which doesn't make him that terrible of a person.

I think his 4.5 sacks last night might have had some influence on my logic.

Loved the hype, loved the game, last night- it felt electric from the TV in my living room, wish I could have been there.

Have to give Favre credit, he played really really well- still impressive how much zip he gets on that ball.

With that said, anyone else feel like that game was way too tight given that the packers were using their back-up place kicker on their O-line? They certainly moved the ball well (384 passing yards). Loved that the D stepped up on the goal and was able to get a fumble recovery and interception on the early drives, but man, the way we outplayed them, the score really shouldn't have been that close.

Oh, and why the F___ did Chilly have that challenge flag stuffed so far down his pants that he couldn't pull it out on time to throw it on that non-catch in the 1st quarter? Isn't that something that you should have ready-to-go in case it is needed? It luckily ended up working out well for the vikes given the turnover soon after, but that non-challenge could have been huge... I hate him
