Can we talk Twins for a second?

Not that we really want to after that debacle last night by Pavano. Not sure why you leave him in down 4-2 and the bases loaded (again.) With 4 games left and 2 out - so you're saying we've got a chance . . .

So, unfortunately I didn't get to watch the game last night.... the man was keeping me down, so I was going to ask yoo guys why, when I happened to walk by a TV, I saw Pavano in there in the late innings with us down 7-2? I figured the runs had come in all that once, or off a cheap play or soemthing like that- but the box score doesn't really suggest that?

Was he struggling the whole game?

I also didn't see it. My guess is that there's something to do with having just played a doubleheader that included an extra innings game the day before, in which every regular reliever on the squad pitched. I guess Gardy would rather have Pavano in there, knowing he'll probably at least keep it from getting totally out of hand, than put in Manship and risk being down 12-2. The real issue is that, in the most important game of the year, we had to start Carl Pavano.

Anyway, it was a nice little run, and hopefully it fuels Mauer to the MVP trophy he deserves. I'm happy I never moved beyond "this is fun but I'm extremely skeptical." Watching Verlander mow us down Tuesday night was confirmation. Scrappy as they may be, this team just isn't playoffworthy yet. Not without Morneau, Slowey, Crede and Neshek. As they say down here, wait 'til next year.

Win today and we've got a chance...albeit slim. Tigers have to play Chisox, and we know Ozzie likes the Twins better than the Tigers, so...oh well, never mind. If we have to face Grienke again, we're screwed. Detroit's magic number is 2...

It was a nice run, and had we gone on the 11 of 12 tear somewhere in June or July, we may not have had to "play from behind", which may have resulted in a division title.

Not to say I told you so, but how big does the blown 12-run lead in Oakland look now?

I am still holding out hope that the pitching comes around. Anyday now...

we are scheduled to face Grienke again.. my prediction: Twins put up 73 runs on him in the 1st inning, thus taking Young Greinke out of contention for the ERA crown, and, more importantly, hands the Cy Young to Felix.

Incensed by this event, Royals fans push through legislation and the city of Kansas City ends up banning import of all Minnesota corn-based products, yes, including Hormel corn dogs. Minnesota, in turn, decides that it will use this clear provocation to act on its long-seeded plan to invade the state and annex it in the name of Charles Alfred Pillsbury. Thus, Missouri will be renamed Pillsbouri. That is my prediction.

Dude, BG, thanks for bringing that one up. I'll just tell myself, without bothering to verify, that the Tigers probably blew a huge lead at some point this season, too, and forget you ever mentioned this.

While we're rehashing the season, though, I'll say that in my mind our fate was determined way back in late May. You might recall getting swept in a certain new stadium on the East coast, losing in crushing fashion three days in a row. Not only did that series linger in the Twins Insecurity Complex longer than Rod Blagojevich loitered around the Illinois statehouse, but it set the sails for the Yankees and assured that even if we won the Central we'd get them on the road in the playoffs.

Dear White Sox,
I know you have nothing to play for, except maybe avoiding an Ozzie Guillen vintage, spittle-and-f-bomb-filled tirade, and I know we've talked a lot of trash about you (especially you, Pierzynski) over the years, but we really think you're a nice team and organization. Could you do us a favor and sweep the Tigers?Really. That would be awesome. I know the media will try to tell the world that if the Tigers win the Division the Auto industry will be saved, and unemployment will dip back down to 3%, but don't believe it. Feel free to whoop up on them.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Twins Fans

Why not believe in the Twins? Hell, anything can happen right? I mean, the A's were able to win a game down 12 ru- sorry.

3 regular season games left in the Hump Dome. Think about it.
