Did you guys see this from this weekend?

The ref was exonerated of any wrong doing, but I'm not so sure. The fact that he is a former linebacker adds to my skepticism...

That is text book, they could show this to HS kids. The ref scrapes drop the line, keeping his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage, while staying in the hitting position, notice the knees slightly bent. The 2 things he does not do is get his head across the body or wrap up, but if he did that then it would be way to obvious. I think the guy was having a flash back to the glory days, "Hey Starwberry!"

Nor am I. At the last second, the ref and the player were facing right chest to right chest, basically. The natural thing to do to avoid the QB would be to go left by spinning clockwise, letting him slip by "Ole!" style. Not throw your right shoulder into him. He wasn't really in a position to move backwards or straight left, or he would have gotten run over by an oncoming horde of linemen, but instead of taking evasive action at the last second, he took aggressive action. It was probably just instinct, but it looked malicious (or like he had money on the game).

Speaking of things like this, did you all see that video of the high school pitcher and catcher combo who (obviously) intentionally beaned an umpire? Classy.

The catcher ended up losing his scholarship to some small school due to the incident. I think that happened here in Georgia.

I hadn't seen it, but I just you-tubed it... classy is right. I just read the Rick Reilly article on this and apparently the catcher, who was planning on being on walk-on at Gordon College (whereever that is) next year, was told "No thanks, we don't want you" by the Gordon coach- all because of this incident.

Think he regrets being an asshole now?... dumb, dumb kid

Honestly, how did the ref get exonerated in this? Where I'm from that's called "dropping your shoulder."

As for the douchebag baseball players, I have no clue where Gordon College is or what they have for academic standards but looks like they at least have some standards.
