TCF Bank Stadium

Let's hope TCF isn't the next institution brought to its knees by the debt crisis, because this stadium is really taking shape. Personally, I am pumped to see the Gophers move back into a legitimate college facility.

Anyway, courtesy of Father BG (via a Gopher webiste of some sort), here are a few photos of the new stadium. It's much further along than I thought it was...and I guess that's good, as they start playing there next fall.

She's gonna be a beauty! My better half's Godfather is a big U booster (former President of the U of M Alumni Association) and retired Brigadeir General from the Air Force, "coincidentally" we play Air Force in the first home game at the new stadium. He was telling me what he is trying to work out with the Air Force in terms of 'pagentry' for that game, I think we're in for numerous fly overs and both the USAA mascot and Goldy parachuting in to deliver the game ball etc.

She looks great. Now here is something that has probably been overlooked, you used to be able to buy beer at the Gopher games one of the few college football stadiums that allowed for that. Now at the new stadium, a person will have to bring in a thermos of Irish coffee or a bottle of Mad Dog in their waist band. On second thought, I think I like option 2 better. Memories.

The "kids" are gonna have to sneak booze in but the suites and the clubs will be fully stocked with liquor. Hopefully I won't have to sit with the unwashed masses and drink out of a flask that looks like pair of binoculars and will be able eat cake and drink champagne with the upper crust.

Jesus, jan, why don't you just get it over with and move to Edina already? Are you gonna be that dad who, instead of coming home with a sack full of McDonald's for the kids, walks in the front door and goes "Hey, everybody, who's ready for Leann Chin's Lemon Chicken?"

I'm projecting, I know.

Stadium looks great. Can't wait to go there some day.

MCA - I live a stone's throw from the Cake Eaters and, honestly, considering that the SLP school district is potentially going to educate Junior, Edina smells interesting. Wow, you grows up you grows up and you grows up.

BTW - I use to love Leanne Chin's Lemon Chicken, who didn't? It was Minnesota's Chinese food.

Someone needs to figure out how to make Chinese food with mayonnaise, then we'll really have our own Minnesotan-Chinese fusion cuisine.

You know there is some Chinese food "hot dish" that has been developed; I can hear it now on WCCO news, "One family has combined their Chinese roots with their new home in Minnesota. The Chang family moved here last year from Beijing and quickly fell in love with a Minnesota tradition - hot dish. This year they are cooking up their own version with a little 'spice' from the Far East: 'Kung Pao Chicken Hot Dish!'"

Yes, I should type copy for newscasters.

BG - ask Betty Crocker (i.e. Joyce Gauck) I'm sure she's come across it.
