So you're saying there's a chance...

even with last night's mind F___ of a game.

This is it boys... down to the final 11 or 12 games of the year. Twins are currently 2.5 games back, 5 more road games, 6 at the Dome. Twins win 65.3% of their home games and 43.4% of their road games, which, after applying to their remaining schedule, suggests 6.09 (3.92+2.17) more wins for a final record of 88.09W, 73.91L.

White Sux have 8 roadies and 4 home games remaining. Sux win 64.9% of their home games and 45.2% of their road games, which, after applying to their remaining schedule, suggests 6.22 more wins(2.596 + 3.616) for a final record of 90.22W 71.78L.

Which means... the race is closer than it looks, only 2.13 games separates the teams..not the hugely inflated 2.5 games that the standings suggest.

Here's the remaining schedules

Good Guys:
1 @ Indians
4 @ Rays
3 White Sux
3 Royals

White Sux:
2 @ Yankees
3 @ Royals
3 @ God's Team
3 Indians
1 Tigers (PPD from earlier in the month, date TBD)

I never thought I'd say this, but those 4 games "@ Rays" scare the crap out of me. What do you wanna bet Garza shuts us out one game and Bartlett hits a key, bases-clearing double in another.

We have to man up right now and win, especially with the Sux on the road for the next 3 series. If they come in to town up by 3 games, I'm afraid we may hit the panic button...whereas 1 or 2 games is much more manageable.

agreed, it's not like we've really shown that we perform well under pressure.

Twins down 4-2 right now. I am really questioning what we as Minnesota fans did to deserve this kind of fate. The Twins built us up all season just to crash at the exact same time that the Vikings are ripping out our hearts. I hate to bring it up but FAU is at the dome this wekend looking to make it 2-0 vs the Gophers.

rts, I think it has something to do with karmic payback for Minnesotans unleashing Louie Anderson on America. We will not be allowed to enter the land of championships again until his career is officially over - that means he's not even playing Mystic Lake anymore.

Seriously, though, we need to recall that we had no expectations for the Twinkies this year, and they're going to finish with close to or better than 90 wins. Contrarily, we expected the Vikes to threaten to emerge out of mediocrity, and look what a mess they've made of the bed so far.

Which is a long-winded way of saying "Take it easy on the Twins." I'm kind of in the dumps about how they should have won this weak division and look like they're gonna limp home instead, but, jaysus, look at the f'ing Vikings.

MCA - you're partially right, we should take it easy on the Twins as we had low expectations but RTS is right in that the team played 5 months of solid baseball and are now choking everything away. I know we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs but let's steal another divisional title while we can.
