USA Today Love-fest

Onc of the guilty pleasures of traveling for work is waking up to a USA Today outside your door (I mean, who doesn't enjoy seeing high school Top 25 rankings!?). Anyway, at the risk of reversing Alshouse's reverse jinx, I simply had to share this story. It hits on a lot of the now-cliche topics related to the Twins, but there were some awesome bits of information in there (such as: there are 8 front office officials who have been with the team for 20 years or more...20 years!!). Sounds like continuity and loyalty are as much responsible for our success as finding diamonds in the rough when scouting.

Great win tonight...Baker is the hard-luck kid again, with a 4-hit no decision. I'll take the W.

BG - great link to the USA Today article. Nothing like getting stroked a bit. Here is the difference I want to bring when this blog collectively buys the team: I will spend a little money because I want to win f'ing championships. Nice guys finish first in their division but last in the playoffs.

Great win last night. Baker was HUGE. He is Radke 2.0. How about a shout out for Matty Guerrier. The dog of the last month with 2 big innings. Nice to see people pick up Morneau who left 7 on base; not worried, that will change.

I was going to say Blackburn was Radke 2.0 since he gave up lead off HRs in his last wto starts.

That was a massive win last night. To win a tight game against the best team in the league, in the Monkey House, is big. To win a late August series out there = you might just be for real, so let's get 'er done! I'd love to see the offense just explode on them today. The little guys bagged this win, now let's see Mauer, Morneau and Second Half Kubel (yes, you might remember him, now with the 3rd highest OPS on the squad) rock somebody.

Baker is trying to take control of this rotation, and be the clear #2 to Liriano going into next season. I like the ball in his hands in big games. I see us as Franky, Baker, Slowey, Blackburn, Perkins right now. That's a 1, a 2 and three 3's for a rotation if they all stay on their current paths (although Perkins is a little shaky and I have a fear he's just about at his ceiling already). Not bad for a bunch of 25-year-olds.
