Purdue's buzzer-beater proves costly to Gophers

So as I was checking in on the results from the Gopher/Purdue game last night, I saw this headline and thought, "You know, that's really been the M.O. of this team all year, they play teams tough but just come up a little short- probably just a result of not quite having enough talent. But to lose to Purdue, who is playing very well this year, at Purdueville by a last second shot-- that's pretty impressive."

... then I read further and realized that the aforementioned buzzer that was beaten was indeed the buzzer for the end of the first half, and the aforementioned shot that beat that aforementioned buzzer was apparently the shot that sealed the fate of the Gophers, even though there was 20 minutes more to play.... Is the an example of MN nice sportswriting?

Final:
Purduers 65
Gophers 53

Kind of stupid, right? I watched the highlight on WCCO last night and they showed the shot and then Mark Rosen made some comment that made it seem like it was all over after that "dagger to the heart." I was like "it's half time at that point, and aren't we tied or something?"

Not sure it is Minnesota nice or just Minnesota defeatest attitude.

This is the craziest Gopher hoops season ever. Why? Not because we've been in crazy games or pulled crazy upsets, but because (with the exception of Illinois), we have beaten everyone we should, and lost to everyone we should. Literally...the Gophers have not beaten any of the 5 teams above them in the standings, and have beaten everyone below them, except Illinois in that total debacle.

This is the perfect NIT team...
