Question:

Which would knock down more free throws out of 10 - a blindfolded Richard Coffey shooting left-handed, or Spencer Tollackson on his best day?

Bottom line is this squad is just not very talented when you get right down to it. They could lose by 30 in Bloomington. Tubby's getting every ounce of blood out of Monson's stone.

Nonetheless, nice to see some national props and pub., including some good lovin' up of the ole' Barn on ESPN. When's the last time the Gophs have played a meaningful game in prime time on the big network? Also, I must add, just because of the social impact of it all, that Doris Burke is probably a better color analyst than 95% of the guys she competes with. It's refreshing to hear someone who sounds like she wants to jump out on the court and play. You can hear her love for the game, and her knowledge of it, as well.

MCA you beat me to the punch. Have to say that it was a terrific atmosphere last night, hope that came across on t.v. (did it? how did the crowd come across on t.v.? Shades of Cameron Arena?)

Tollackson was brutal at the line. You could tell that when he was lining up he had no confidence that he was going to make it even though on his final 1 and 1 every player walked up to give him reasurance and he kept yelling "I got this! I got this!" and then hit the front of the rim. As my Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) park board coach Jim Griack taught me in 4th grade "Use your legs when you shoot free throws." Too bad Tollackson was from Shakopee and never got that message.

You're right that Tubby is getting every drop of talent from this team. In his post game press conference he said that in order for this team to win essentially every player needs to overachieve, particullary the bench. I love it that they play hard. Their full court press defense gave IU fits, hence the 20+ turnovers for the Gophers, but that has got to be tiring. They got dominated on the boards and when 3 for 17 from beyond the arc - U-G-L-Y. Proppers to Dan Coleman, dude is solid.

Best sight last night was the 10 students dressed in gorilla outfits with gopher jersey's and headbands.

Really too bad they lost as it was their game to win. They had one killer lapse on defense with a minute left and Tollackson killed them from the line. Other than that can you imagine what this team is going to be like in 2 years when Hoffarber and Nolen are juniors and Ralph Sampson Jr. has a full season under his belt?

Dudes, Great to see the barn in prime time. I was at Daisy's boss' condo last night before going to cirque du soleil (I know, I know)...and I basically commandeered his remote so I could watch ESPN. It appears that McKenzie also killed us with his goose egg from behind the arc. Botton line is that any big wins we get this year are gravy, as this was Monson's team. Next year, they'll have at least 3, maybe 4, new starters (with the Hoff and Nolen being the holdovers).

Also, the TV crew seemed almost obsessed with the age of the barn, constantly showing the view from the cheap seats. Fine by me, as the place has more character than 95% of the gyms in the country.
