Minnesota Vikings: When We Were Young
Unless you follow the Minnesota Lynx (which, I now actually do) you're probably yearning for days gone by when the Minnesota sports scene fielded teams that were, well, relevant. The below picture was taken post game at Lambeau in 2009.
Just a quick snapshot from that day: November 1, 2009, Vikes win 38–26 and move to 7-1. Touring the bars in Green Bay after the game, we came across this guy. Who could know what tragedies would follow and how insightful this guy's jersey actually would become.

Jan, it is like tennis on here right now between you and I. Back and forth, back and forth.
Was there ever a time that jersey was not appropriate? I do not think so.

RTS - can you blame people from not being on here? At some point I'm going to have to acknowledge the playoff run of the Minnesota Lynx and dust off my knowledge of the neutral zone trap and talk about the upcoming Wild season . . .
We're gonna need to put together a retrospective of what happened with Favre and the Vikes and how it has continued the curse. This will need to be a joint FTLOSBW effort. I could see it turning into a book, maybe the "douchebag" picture could be on the cover.

I like this book idea, although not the cover so much. We could make some dough, I think, by mythologizing the plight of the Vikings and establishing some martyred cache for the franchise and its fans the way the Red Sox and Cubs did. A full description of the ill-fated hot air balloon stunt could serve as the prologue.
I don't have much free time what with the practice of law and the three kids, but would be happy to contribute in any way I can.
We need an intro from someone like Bob Dylan or Prince - can anyone get that? The Sox and Cubs had/have their celebs to add sexiness to their loser personae; we need one, too.

OK, MCA is in.
As for famous people, can't think of any off the top of my head. Prince would be good but we need a little more, uh, testosterone and that song he did in 2009 is kinda part of the curse. It would be awesome if Bob Dylan actually came out and said he wrote Blood on the Tracks while following the 1974 Vikes season and "Simple Twist of Fate" is about losing the Superbowl to the Steelers (how can you argue with:
"People tell me it's a sin
To know and feel too much within
I still believe she was my twin but I lost the ring
She was born in spring but I was born too late
Blame it on a simple twist of fate."?)

Great call (my favorite Dylan song, by the way). Could be applied to simply being born a Vikes fan in general.
"They sat together in the park, as the evening skies grew dark. She looked at him and he felt a spark tingle to his bones. 'Twas then he felt alone, and wished that he'd gone staight, and watched out for a simple twist of fate....
He woke up. The room was bare. He didn't see her anywhere. He told himself he did not care, pushed the window open wide. He felt an emptiness inside, to which he just could not relate. Brought on by a simple twist of fate."
