Optimism thy name is Reginald "Jerry" Kill*

Can we start to talk about Gopher football? I mean is that reasonable at this point? Are we gonna say that Jerry Kill is the most optimistic thing on the Minnesota sports frontier? I think we are.

* I couldn't find his real name anywhere. Any help?

Let it be noted that these days, the schadenfreude of Ohio State going up in flames counts as "optimism." Therefore, yes, I am optimistic about the future of Gopher football. For now. So long as it's the end of May and three months until they start playing games.

Anybody see the 500 on Sunday? I had the rookie in my pool. His crash (on turn 800, out of 800) cost me 200 bucks. We had no idea who actually won at the time it all went down, despite sitting on the front straightaway. Good race this year. Dario's team blew it - he had it in the bag but pitted too early.

Yes, I think "coach Kill" will end up being a great hire for the Gophers. This year will be tough, but I expect them to at least be competitive (see end of last season) and more disciplined, which will be nice. Very curious to see Marquies Gray full-time as QB.

The Ohio State mess is too good to be true (although it certainly hurts the overall Big Ten brand, since they've been the de facto representative at the national level every year). It's almost comical how hypocrytical Tressel has been. On one hand, he carefully polished this choir boy, professorial image, but on the other, he is COMPLETELY sketchy. Expect a complete meltdown and sanctions on par with USC's.

The Twins bullpen is simply awful. Thank you, Bill Smith, for not re-signing any of the guys from last year.

Didn't see the Indy 500 live, but did see the highlights. Feel horrible for that kid (and for MCA). He's from Sausalito, so it's getting some run in the local media here.

MCA, that is one for the books. I feel your pain.

I am going to take the opposite side of the positive coin. Imagaine if Brewster had turned the program around and OSU is imploding this could have been their time to come out and grab the title. Instead they are still sitting at the bottom and are not in a position to compete.
