Brutal. Nick f-ing Swisher.
O-dog botching that double-play (followed by the yanks no-name catcher roping a double) and the anemic 8th inning pretty much summarize our luck against NY.
Thank god today is the last game against these a-holes until another possible playoff matchup, at which time I will resume MCA fetal position.

Keep doing whatever you are doing because your boy is directly responsible for both wins against the Yankees.

What I'm doing is foolishly giving a shit the first two games of these series, thinking maybe things will be different this time, then going fetal position and not even looking at the pitching matchup for Game 3, much less following the game itself. This apparently has the effect of making Kubel hit homeruns. The trouble is that I won't be able to pay any attention to the ALDS this way, which kind of sucks, but if that's what it takes to get beyond the Agonizing Death by Yankee Disease, then I'm up for it.
We've now hit over 50% as many homeruns at Target Field as our opponents. Yay!
Anyone else think, despite his 4.2 ERA, his propensity to give up a lot of singles, and his inability to ever actually throw a shutout, Blackburn should be our Game 1 playoff starter if it's against the Yanks? Guy just shows up when we need him most, and I feel like the offense hits when he's on the mound for some reason. Except in Game 163 in '08.

I thought the same thing this morning about Blackburn. I had to go back to see who won the first Yankees game and sure enough it was Blackburn. In Blackburn's 9 starts the Twins are 8-1, the lone loss was 4-5 against the White Sox. He really has had only 2 poor outings, both against KC and both games the Twins won. He has gone 7 or more 5 straight starts and subsequently his ERA has dropped after each of those starts.
Gamblor is making his call now. The Twins lose on Monday to the Mariners. The Twins play Texas at home on ESPN2 Sunday night and then travel to Seattle and play the Mariners Monday night.

Random note: Jan and BG, I was incorrect this weekend when we were discussing Dustin Byfuglien. He's from Roseau, not the Cities. For some reason I was sure he was from Lakeville or Woodbury or somewhere, but yaaa, it turns out there are in fact 6'4", 250 lb. black guys up dere on the range, dontcha know.
Regardless, yet another mark against Don Lucia that this guy wasn't in maroon and gold for at least a year. He was an 8th round draft pick, so it's not like he was some superstud who wouldn't have benefitted from college hockey.
