Vikes v. Panthers - The Turd in the Carolinas

Almost a mirror image of effort of that Cards game. We opened up with a tuddy and good defense and that was pretty much it for the rest of the game. I don't want to call it a 'trap' game because it shouldn't have been but if they don't decide to actually play hard then we are going to be one and done in the playoffs. What's more frustrating is that winning teams don't let that happen after New Orleans lost and after we clinched the division.

Game Balls -

AP's tuddy run.

That's about it. Vent on this post and then let's move on. I know at least 2 others who won't be able to watch Sportscenter for another 4 days. Good that xmas is coming to provide a distraction.

I hate to admit this. My FFl and my real world collided. I needed the Vikes D to give up points and was rooting for them to do so. Sure I still wanted them to win and score, but things could have turned out worse me. I am in my second leagues FFL bowl by .04 points, which is 4 yards.

I am definitely more concerned than I have been at any other point in the season. Matt Moore was tossing the rock against our D. Not Good, not good at all. Sure it was going to Steve Smith, but Mcnabb to Jackson or Brees to Colston and Meacham is not going to be any easier.

This was just a horseshit performance. We came in flat like we did against AZ. Our line has talented players but right now, you have to say they are not good, based on how they have played. Not that they aren't capable of playing great - just that they are NOT playing well. I don't think favre or AP played poorly, they just had nothing up front, and there's no excuse for that with that group. Whats scary to me, is they are showing the one trait that has haunted us forever - lack of motivation and coming into big games just flat. I was hoping this team was different because i do think its attitude and the type of player is diffferent than the prima donnas from the past. But holy shit have they played badly in two huge games against teams they have no business losing to.

I said to Jan, at this point in the season, you can't take a game, a series or a play off. Things are just too close. So my hope is this will be a wakeup call, and favre will rise to the occasion and carry them. I actually like that he told chilly to fuck off. I don't know what bizarre psycho babble high school shit Childress was trying, but it would have said a lot if favre was willing to come out of that game. So i think its a good tension, if it shows the team that a 40 yr old hall of famer isn't willing to sit and watch.

I have committed myself to just turning the page and hoping a fire is lit under us and we peak in the next two games going into the playoffs. I don't care about NO, because they are overrated and frankly, i think they will lose before the NFC championship anyway. So if we win out, im not convinced we won't effectively have home field advantage. All you can do is stay positive. Thats how i feel. And thats how i want to feel. So crank it up. Get excited for monday night.

MCA any comment on your tough loss this weekend in the FFL? At least Jan just mailed it in and was torched before the games even got going. Good luck next week BG. DTK the team you drafted missed the playoffs. LH I don't think you even read this blog anymore.

Ummm, fuckity fuck fuck? That about cover it?

Again, I am the Minnesota Vikings of our FFL. I will never win it all. In ten years now, I've won the regular season outright twice and tied for it twice more, but random stinkers keep happening in the playoffs, some my own fault (not starting Hines Ward this week) and some cosmic (Kurt Warner, 1 point, Week 16, 2008).

I feel like I'm in the final four at least every other year, but can't pull it off. So maybe I'm the Roy Williams Era Kansas of the FFL, I don't know. Whatever. A role I'm happy to fill, I guess. I'd rather be that than be the Rams of our FFL, like Luke.

BG, I guess I'm pulling for you, to avoid having a repeat champ, and to send you into your commissionership on a nice high before the hounds of discontent start yapping at you.

As for the real Vikings, I guess my Cassandra stance throughout the season is coming in handy right about now. I've been feeling there was a monster right around the corner all year, and it appears that, if we haven't already turned that corner, we've at least peeked around it and know what's there.

That team should absolutely stomp Carolina. The Cards loss I can understand, but Matt Moore is not Kurt Warner.
