Big 10/ACC - Just hoop it up, yo!
Early in the season but this is fun, especially when you get the rematch of the National Championship game. The Big Ten is .500 so far this year; it's the 11th year of the tourney and I read that the Big Ten is 0 for 10 in winning the most games over the "challanges" history. Nerd U won without BG's doppleganger; you might remember him from a February post on this blog when I ran into Mr. and Mrs. BG.
Speaking of, Tubby's Golden Gophers get Miami tonight. I like Sampson and Iverson and think they're going to start to dominate some games this year and give teams match up issues. Plus, we all know about Rodney. After "attitude" problems at the 76 classic, I like Tubby setting the record straight with his players especially after the Royce White bullshit (judgement day is today.)
MCA's Nerd U East plays at the drunken Sconnies tonight (they should host this game at the Dells. I would love to see Krysvhdevsixki on a water slide.) Smell some sort of upset coming? That also might be just the smell of shit, it is Wisconsin afterall. TADOW!

Jan - love the college hoops breakdown. I sat 3rd row at the Gophers game vs. Portland in Anaheim. It was ugly...nothing was falling. I think they really need to start dumping it in to Iverson and Sampson more often. Our smaller guys just aren't getting to the rim enough (except for Nolen, who got to the line a bunch simply by driving the lane). Anyway, they definitely have some issues to work out. I like that Tubby isn't putting up with any b.s. from these guys. Nice win over Butler, but horrible loss to Portland. I think they were ready to come home by the time they played A&M. LH - I am assuming you didn't make it?
Nerd U is now 5-1, with wins over Notre Dame, Iowa State and at NC State. All this without my doppelganger who is out for the season. Watch out, baby!!

Even though the Big Ten has come up short year after year, I like the challenge. I wish they would do something like this with football. Imagine the thrid week of the season where the Big Ten and say the Big Twelve squared of head to head. It would be the second biggest story of the week next to Tim Tebow. Question why are ultra religious people presented as better people than non-religious folk? I know plenty of religious people who have done horrible things and are bat shit crazy. Anyway I digress, as it stands I guess the Big Ten does have a challenge, it is week two against the MAC.
The Big Ten was up 3-1, when I saw Iowa leading 20-15 vs VT. I am guessing that did not pan out. I am guessing Iowa is the forth best team in the state of Iowa this year (Drake, ISU, UNI). 11th place in the Big Ten here we come.

RTS, you forgot Grinnell.
Somehow, Wisconsin hung with Gonzaga for awhile last week, despite having less talent than even the typical Wisconsin team. And they're tough at home. That said, we present matchup issues with them all over the court, and our frontcourt depth just got better as Mason Plumlee's back. And we just stomped UConn despite Singler playing horribly and the team shooting 23%, so there's no reason to think Nerd U East doesn't win this one.
also, not to steal this blog's Blake Bears Football Rules!!! thunder, but Wisconsin's best player is Jon Leuer, Orono High School Class of '07.
The Gophers could be the key game tonight, actually. Ohio State and Michigan should win, Duke and Clemson should win, which leaves Minnesota/Miami as the decider. Miami's young in all the wrong places, and the Gophs should pull it out, but it is on the road.
Portland actually struck me as a decent team, and it was the night after beating Butler, so it's sort of forgiveable. They crushed UCLA, too. I was surprised I didn't see Joyce G. storm the court to harangue the refs during that Butler game. 57 fouls called in a 40 minute game. Ridiculous.
By the way, most ACC fans are sick and tired of this so-called challenge, since, despite the fact the Big Televen should win it this year, it's been anything but a challenge for the ACC. 10-0? C'mon. I'd like to see an ACC/Big-12 Challenge and get some early season games against Texas or Oklahoma for awhile.

MCA - Tough game, Badgers play well at home, yada yada yada you are Duke, you should have won.
Of course, you're not Clemson. What a collapse.
Oh and the Gophers dropped their third in a row on the same day that Royce White pleads guilty. Turning point or more of the same?

Big Ten Wins 2009 Big Ten-ACC Challenge, 6-5.
That looks good in print. Thanks go out to "the Ohios State University" for pulling out the win. We should enjoy this because, as previously stated, this doesn't happen too often in basketball.
BG- I di not make it, I actually missed the game after watching the Butler game the night before- in which the Gophers looked impressively good...not sure what happened against portland- and now miami, but I still have high hopes for this team this year.
