The only downside is that it just added another $3M per year to his deal (which we hopefully get done soon, or I may recruit DTK to run over Bill Smith with his pathfinder).

The article in the Strib says it was one of the writers in Seattle. Dumb-ass...I'm just glad it wasn't some writer in NY trying to give Jeter a lifetime achievement award.
RTS - that Iowa cover was a regional thing, apparently, as my SI did not have your hawks on the cover either. If you want a re-print, go to SICovers.com. I purchased the 1995 cover of NU there.

First and foremost, suck it, Yankee fans. I might go on their mlb.com message board just to feel the angst and watch the Jeter stroking for fun.
It was a Japanese voter who's part of the Mariners pool, or something like that, who voted for Cabrera. Maybe he sent in his vote before the last week of the regular season.

To the (apparently) japanese reporter who voted against Mauer -- "I want to slap your face. I want to go on the internet, and slap you right in front of your children so they go through life hearing 'hey, ins't your dad the total douche who got slapped by that guy on the internet?'. That's where I get to cast my vote, Japanese reporter. I bet you have never thrown a baseball. I say good day to you, sir."

This is the kind of vote that really pisses me.. it's like the guy who votes for Boise State as the number 1 team in football at the end of the year... I hate people who do this kind of thing.
DTK- please slap him hard.
On another note: Congratulations Joe, please resign soon for reasonable (and by reasonable I imagine it is going to be something like 7+ and $18-$20mm per)money- you know you want to be a Twin, you know you do.
