Confused in CA

If Favre becomes a Viking what will I do? I'm seriously on the fence right now, my gut reaction will be that I will take a one year hiatus from being a Viking fan. Wow, even as I type that a part of me doesn't believe it. I just really, really can't stand Favre- and I would have thought all of the stories that came out about him following the Jets' experiment last year (as well as his performance over the second half of the year) would have put to rest any desire by Viking's management to pursue him. But, alas- I'm wrong as I see on my screen that Brad C. is going to talk to him.

I don't think I can support a team with him at the helm, I honestly don't. I wish I was still in Tahiti, where my biggest worry was "did I put enough vodka in my drink".

LH - welcome back to reality. I found the week after the honeymoon to be brutal, at best.

Yeah, I am completely dumfounded by the Favre talk. I said to another buddy that I thought he was completely washed up, to which this guy replied: "Yes, but he's still better than T-Jack or Sage." To be honest, I'm not so sure. He was awful at the end of last year, and the word out of Jets camp is that he was a terrible teammate.

And...am I alone, or would you guys feel totally dirty, filthy and disgusting cheering for him?! I feel like this would be the ultimate deal with the devil. "Listen, Satan, I know we've choked in the playoffs ever year, so if we could just win a bowl this year, with Favre, I'll never wish for another title again." No thanks...

Agreed and double agreed. No love lost here for Favre and the notion that he makes us "better" simply isn't true anymore. I said it last year and I'll say it again, I would rather lose with TJac (or Sage) than win with Favre.

Also, what a f'ing distraction for the team. Yes, it is early and camp hasn't started but the circus that surrounded the Packers last year with this crap certainly had an impact on that team throughout the season. What signal does this 'secret' meeting send to TJac and Sage? Chilly is either a total idiot (quite possible) or Zygi is really calling the shots (more likely.)

Just thinking out loud here:

-Jets say he is a bad team mate, as did Rodgers

-All about himself

-Media circus follows him

-Being a competitor justifies crappy attitude (see I will not be a back up and the Ross Perot I am out, I am back, I am out, I am back routine).

Is this Farve or TO?

Blogging at 6 A.M., eh, jan? What ever would have you up so early?

Triple agreed. Especially on the sentiment of rather lose with TJac or Sage than win with Favre. Winning through a one-year rental of the Hall of Fame quarterback of your biggest rival is not winning. Imagine if we won a Super Bowl with Favre.

Now stop imagining it, 'cause it wouldn't happen. What, exactly, about an 81 passer rating and 22 picks to 22 TDs says "worth 2 regular season games and 3 playoff victories" to the front office? Just by way of reference, TJac, for all the "omigod he's so terrible" we get from other teams' fans, had a 95 rating and 9 TDs to 2 INTs last season. The last 4 or 5 weeks he was a totally different player than he was early in the year (granted, massive suckage against Philly in the playoffs). Favre was a totally different player at the end of the year, too, and not in a good way.

News reports here are saying it's down to Favre's bicep and general health; not much standing in the way of this happening. If/when this happens, it'll be a low point in my time on this Viking ship.

I happened to catch Dan Barriero on the Dan Patrick show today while driving to lunch, and Barriero claims that this move would be 100% Zygi Wilf. Zygi knows that he'll easily sell out every game and create a huge circus, which in his mind will help him get support for a new stadium. Personally, I think he's underestimating the sentiment from people like us, who would rather wait a little longer for that elusive title.

I actually believe Barriero on this one...Childress is all about discipline, game management, attending offseason workouts, etc. Favre has shown NO interest in any of that over the past 3-4 years. He shows up late to camp, he's completely selfish and he still makes way too many careless plays. Can you imagine what he'll do against Green Bay? Early prediction: 200 yards, 4INTs, 0TDs and 1 unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Give me Sage and 10-6 again...I feel like I need a shower.

Poll question: Where's Uncle Coach Burnsie? Not that I would have voted for him.
