Thanks Wildcats...

Yeah, nice one, bg. I blame you for this. It has nothing to do with my irrational exuberance after the Wisconsin win.

What's up with the poll today? Could you pick four cities in Florida I'd less like to live in? Was the question perhaps supposed to be if you were forced to live in Florida somewhere north of Orlando, where would you choose? 'Cause I'd pick pretty much any city south of those options.

Larry Fitzgerald = awesome. Discuss. Anyone else read the article on him in Friday's journal? I spent the weekend hanging colored balls from Peter's ceiling and making a special bat with colored stripes on it like the one Fitzgerald's grandfather had. Then I called the Bears offices to see about ballboy positions in 2020.

Also, one of my greatest moments as a parent came Saturday: watching the end of Duke/Georgetown with my 4-year-old daughter, and she asked if we could go to Duke to see a basketball game sometime. Nice!

BG - it's you. I knew it all along.

As for the poll - exactly, those are 4 cities I would deem 'terrible' to have to live in. Pick your poison.

LFitz - if football somehow involves debating another player, then MCA's son has a chance at the NFL.

Funny, on Saturday after the Duke game my daughter pooped and then fed and then took a nap. Maybe not the greatest parenting moment so far but . . .

Both you guys are right...my blame was being mispplied to the Wildcats.. they really had nothing to do with it, after all they should be "trying" to win all their games. BG- first football, now this- you are walking along a narrow rope my friend, a narrow rope.

I didn't real the article (I'll have to fish it out of the recycling bin) nut needless to say, I was very impressed.. He doesn't appear to be doing anything extraordinary, but he just gets the job done. He reminds me of a bigger, stronger, faster Cris Carter. In other words, he has Carter Hands and route running ability- plus he's a snappy dresser- what more could you ask for?

Interesting side note on Fitzgerald (taken from Wikipedia) "He originally committed to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN before enrolling at Pittsburgh." How do you think Fitzgerald would have done in the mighty MIAC?

A couple of posts ago: Jan, I think you posted a topic something like: Guess who's winning in MN?"... When I fort read the post, I thought you might be talking about the Timberwoves- but then I thought better of that given your distate for said team, but I think it is time to watch a game or two- they really loook like a different team right now ( I'm sure this will end soon) but gone is the dump the ball into Jefferson and stand around and watch offensive scheme they were running under Wittman. They actually look a little cohesive- the credit for this I place on 3 trends: benching of McCants, emergence of Rodney Carney, or as I like to call him RC, and Randy Foye looking like he finally is starting to understand the NBA game (just wich he'd focus on distributing the ball a little better)

Sorry guys. I told you I was officially pulling for the Gophers. This game had "letdown" written all over it. Huge win at Wisconsin followed by a game on the road against a team that you should beat, but have trouble getting up for? Perfect formula for disappointment. The good news is that the Gophers are stil 3-1 on the road this season.

Fitzgerald was awesome yesterday, and I love that every story about him involves his time with the Vikes.

I think he might have scored 150 TDs in the MIAC...

Also, did anyone else get the feeling yesterday that winning in the NFL, when you boil it all down, is dependent on one thing: strong QB play? AZ had the 28th ranked defense in the regular season. Yes, defense can win championships, but with the exception of Baltimore a few years back, you also need a good QB. Kurt Warner is the man...I can't believe I just said that.

MCA - you'll have to tell me the secret to having your kids LOVE your sports teams some day. That is a great story...and a nice win by Duke over G-town. I have to admire you guys for playing a brutal schedule every single year.

Seriously, I don't think I'd want to live in Florida period. Maybe Miami...but I've been to Tampa, Orlando, St. Pete, etc. and they all suck. I wouldn't wish Panama City or Daytona on my worst enemy.

Good point on the letdown trap, bg, but that doesn't lessen the disappointment that it came against the Mildcats. Maybe Tubby's not a demigod of motivating and creating cohesion, afterall.

I did nothing in particular to turn Maddie into a Crazy; they just latch onto whatever their parents seem to think is interesting and/or important. So I explained the students painting their faces and jumping up and down and stuff, and that I was once one of them (minus the face painting) and she thought it was cool.

Query - had he played at Gustavus (almost comically unthinkable at this point), could Fitzgerald have gotten some QB out of Mahtomedi a chance in the late rounds of the NFL draft? That would have been a first for sure.

I've become increasingly convinced that the biggest flaw with football as a game is that the quality of 1 player on the field is too disproportionately important. I think we had this discussion last year re: AP. As great as he is, great running backs without very good or better quarterbacks to go with them have won about 0 Super Bowls. Which is why I continue to amaze myself that I defend Tarvaris. He has to be "very good" or better all year next season or he's done.

rts, how are feeling about your pre-emptive swearing off of Vikes fandom now? Probably sounded better before Warner and Fitz went and torched the 3rd best defense in the NFL to get into a Super Bowl played in warm weather against an ailing team. On the other hand, you and Annie could be in for a lot of QT on Sundays for the rest of her life, so it's not all bad.

To tie it all together, bg, I would wish that on my worst enemy, Kurt Warner, for his FFL betrayal and now marching his team to the Super Bowl while putting up huge numbers in the playoffs. Were I St. Peter I would force him and his wife to spend all of eternity trying to read bible verses to Spring Breakers right next to the MTV stage on Daytona Beach.

Way to go BG. It was way easier to get a win back in the day when you guys were throwing games.

I am pretty sure that Larry Fitz did a post grad year after HS before enrolling at Pitt. I am not sure if that had anything to do with him spring boarding from Gustavus to Pitt.

As far as the pledge, it is what it is. As a fan I think I am owed a little bit more than I have been given.

I am caught in a dilema. On the one hand I want the Steelers to win to keep my faith. On the other hand I am rooting for Kurt Warner to win the Super Bowl. It is like when Homer Simpson had his daughters love vs money riding on the outcome of the Super Bowl.

Speaking of Warner, how many times has that guy been counted out? With as subjective as the Pro-Football HOF goes, I say he should get in. His accomplishments in his best seasons make up for his forgettable ones.

MCA, that is cool that your daughter is excited about Duke. Annie, definitely knows we root for the Hawks. However, we would like her to aim higher than Iowa.
