The blog formerly about a daily dose of mostly Minnesota sports rants and raves with a sprinkling of general sports commentary and a pinch of jaded-malaise regarding the world around us

Switching gears...

Stenerud, I know you've said this before, but Howard Sinker (Twins blogger on Strib.com) is the man. What makes him even more impressive is that he does it "on the side," as his day job is to run/manage the Startribune website. Anyway, he had a good post today that got me sort of excited for spring training. As usual, I think he nailed it in terms of how this crew is feeling...

1) Rotation looks very solid, especially if Blackburn and Perkins continue to mature a bit
2) Bullpen is a question mark, but he is optimistic, largely based on the return of Crain
3) A new deal for Kubel would be great as the guy is our 2nd most prolific HR hitter and should continue to improve
4) Delmon has the potential for a nice year if he stays on his 2nd half of 2008 pace
5) The left side of the infield makes him (and us) queasy
6) The Twins tied for a division title last year, and open Target Field in 15 months...it's time to get fired up!

saying the left side of our infield makes us queasy miht be a bit of an understatement. This might be just one of those crazy internet rumors, but I recently read that Bill Smith is close to signing both Gary Gaetti and Greg Gagne to incentive laden one-year contracts.. so we got that going for us, which is nice.

Is the left side of the infield some combo of Buscher, Tolert, Harris, Lamb, Everett, Punto and LH? In an ideal world I start LH to cover both ss and 3rd and then take the extra spot and go with 4 outfielders. Just a thought, it is no worse than going into last season with Lamb and Everett.

Never fear, we'll sign some quasi-good 3rd baseman for too much money who will choke. Besides laughing all the way to the bank, what do you think Mike Lamb is up to?

I heard Mike Lamb was working for Vegetarians Across America, a non-profit that focuses on going into schools and educating kids on the dangers of eating meat.

I wondering how man bounces my third to first throw would take?.. at least it should skim off the artifical turf fairly consistently, put me in Gardy, I'm ready to contribute
