A couple good links
I haven't found Bill Simmons all that funny lately (in fact, I think he's either lost his touch, or his material has become old and over-used - another topic altogether, I guess), but his playoff awards are pretty good, partially because he too alludes to Peter King's overt man-love affair with Favre.

Also, here's a good update on the Johan trade talks. Very interesting. Although a trade with the Mets wouldn't give us major league-ready talent, I kind of like the idea of getting him out of the American League. It also alludes to the fact that the Yankees are very unlikely to just sit on the sidelines if things heat up again.

Simmons hasn't been funny for over a year. His column shouldn't be called "Sport's Guy" it should be called "Boston Sport's Guy" and published on the Boston Globe's website. I do read it every so often (in the can) and picked up on the awards, he is right on about Peter King and it's even more sickening after the King's article on Tuesday where he defended Favre's performance (I had a link to that.)
That is good stuff on Johan. We gots to get something if we don't sign him. I like the Mets deal with all the prospects who could turn into something for 2010. It does bring up a great point about Bill Smith being able to sit on this for much longer considering that Johan could tell the Twins he is going to neg any deal after the season starts so he can concentrate on baseball.

We have to get something for Johan. Bill Smith is obviously a cooler cat than I, because Hughes and Melky would already be doing commercials for the Twins.
Best line from Simmons was "the moment Norv Turner decided to stay on 16."

Totally with you, Chuck. Phil Hughes would be in Duluth for fan-fest this weekend (or whenever it is) if I was the G.M. I just hope we don't get so greedy that we turn down a fair deal (especially with the Mets, who could stock us with talent for the new stadium).
Yeah, I just think Simmons ran out of funny material and so he reverted to talking about the Celtics and Pats all the time, which is NOT interesting to 95% of the country. He is purely Friday afternoon shitter reading for me, at best. His gambling analogies are still good, but that's about it.
