RIGODDAMMDICULOUS
Not that I care anymore, but do we have to be shit on while we are forced to eat a shit sandwich?
I was forced to sit through a half of that nut scraping with Jan, and then for some reason returned for more in the fourth quarter, and that performance was just emabrrassing. I guess this rivalry has become so meaningless to this organization, or so important to the one who wears a championship ring, that we just show up to take a beating.
This team plays with less heart, intelligence and energy than almost any I have seen since I started watching organized sports in 1979. (I cannot verify that date, but I seem to remember going to Met Stadium, or at least the multi-coloerd 70's parking lot when I was 5).
This organization, along with several others in FTLOSBW (OK, all others not inlcuding that gals in the lingerie league -- keep it up, Ladies. You're doing fine.) needs to take a long look in the mirror. I hate to say it, but that starts with you, leslie Frazier.
So far he has shown me absolutley nothing as a coach. Blown leads, horrific penalties, no motivation for big games, no fire from anyone other than AP and JA, and basically no wins. I want to pull for him, but I need something. I'm starting to miss Chilly.

I turned it off when Greg Jennings scored to make it 14-0. Comedy Central was playing a marathon of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Jan was kind enough to text me when the Gophs came back to beat NoDak a few Saturday nights ago. With that win, combined with road sweeps at (defending national champ) UMD and Anchorage, they're way out in front of the WCHA early on, with a lot more home games than road games remaining. Splitting in Madison was good enough to maintain the top ranking for the time being.
Couple factors seem to be propelling the team at the moment, tops among them being goalkeeping. Kent Patterson's become a star and has already posted 5 shutouts. Granted, two of them were against Sacred Heart, but he's already tied Robb Stauber's program record for a single season.
They've also found some steady and consistent offense. Not setting the league on fire with goals, but scoring enough, and multiple guys can find a way to put the puck in the net. No more relying on one or two high octane guys, and if they're shut down on the night, needing to scrap for a 1-1 tie. It's really shown up in the power play, which is right now the most efficient in the conference after multiple seasons in a row of being atrocious and incredibly painful to watch.
I haven't seen them play enough, but I'm willing to believe that there's good comaraderie on the team without having half a dozen guys looking forward to the draft, too. That's been a major problem in recent years.
Are they really the best team in the country? Hard to say and too early. UMD's in the top 10, but outshot us big time so we were fortunate to win either game there, much less both. North Dakota looks like it has its worst team in at least a decade, so hard to take too much from those wins, and Wisconsin's unranked, too. If they come out of the College Hockey Showcase (sadly, the ultimate College Hockey Showcase, since the Big TEn's decided to destroy college hockey as a general matter) next week with a good showing, they might look pretty legit.
