Vikes Draft "night"
I love the new NFL draft format, as I always enjoy watching the first round, but I felt bad hanging around inside on a nice spring day. Let's hope the Vikes don't spoil a good night and cause a reaction like this one (this was filmed after the Troy Williamson pick). An all-time classic.

For whatever it is worth, I didn't mind giving up our first rounder for the Lions second and swapping 4th round picks. we moved back 4 spots and moved up in the 4th, I am guessing it They weren't going to take Best anyway.

Yeah, that was a great trade for the Vikes. For better or worse, I think they might have been positioning themselves to take Clausen today. They knew that Indy, New Orleans and St. Louis were not interested in him, obviously, so they figured they could trade down and pick him up 5 spots later and save money on the contract. I've also heard that they may go OL or DB, since those are the areas of immediate need. We'll see...big thumbs up to the new draft format.

I was sooooooooo ready to post that clip as soon as we took Tebow last night. Guess the Broncos didn't want me to have the pleasure.
BG, what do you mean by "new draft format?" Have they changed the order of picks from straight application or last season's results or something?
By the way, if we draft Clausen/McCoy, does that mean we're convinced no more Favre, or does that mean we're committed to finding a way to scuttle Rosenfels? Or are we going to draft a legit Heisman candidate QB and tell him to sit on the practice squad for a year? Because I count 4 QB's if Favre's back and we draft another one.

By the way, I just watched the clip again for like the 20th time, and just now noticed there's a five-year-old there with all those guys. Wonder what that kid was thinking after the reaction?

MCA - glad you enjoy that clip as much as I do. I just gets funnier and funnier every time.
By new format I just mean Round one on Thursday night...and, allegedly, they sped up the time between picks to 10 minutes (from 15), which helped it move along a bit faster.
I think the idea with Clausen would be for him to sit on the bench for 1-2 years (presumably behind Favre next fall) and then take over. As you mention, we'd have to dump one of our QBs, most likely, to make room. I have heard that there is a trade market for Rosenfels, which is good, because I don't think T-Jac will have any takers.
Thank goodness we didn't take Tebow. Thank you, Broncos, for taking that decision away from us (and for providing what will likely be high comedy in the coming years).

P.S. I NEVER noticed that little kid until just re-watching the clip.
I also just noticed for the first time that the dude to Nyquist's right retreats into a full fetal position. So classic. I might end up watching this 5 more times today.
