The blog formerly about a daily dose of mostly Minnesota sports rants and raves with a sprinkling of general sports commentary and a pinch of jaded-malaise regarding the world around us

At night, it was twice as nice

Makes me happy.

Made me want to play this song a bunch of times.

Dude, awesome photos. So envious of your last three days. And more importantly, the Twins won the one game of the series that I expected them to lose (vs. Grienke). That said, I feel like Gil Meche always pitches well against us.

Meche - yeah, not so much, I guess. Here's to overcoming traditional bugaboos this year. Slow start? Check. Sucking against the Angels? Check. Gil Meche? Check. Can't beat Tim Wakefield/knuckleballers generally? Check.

4-0 in series, Rauch 6 for 6. Leading the AL in run differential. Not bad.

Jan, thanks for letting us live vicariously through your experiences the last couple days. Ballpark looks fantastic, and I'm looking forward to getting up there soon (trying to swing a business trip). The old school Minneapolis-St. Paul dudes shaking hands over the river sign in Center could be the coolest thing Minnesota's produced since The Hold Steady. No offense to The Wiz. Awesome.

Looking forward to your visit next month.

BTW - I never realized until watching the opening day game that the dudes shaking hands actually have names: Minny and Paul. Awesome.

As I texted to Jan, if our pitching is respectable this year, watch out. We could do some serious damage...I know that 12 games is too small of a sample size from which to draw conclusions, but as MCA mentioned, we've avoided the bugaboos that usually leave us sitting at 4-8 at this point in the season, so I'm thinking that we're already 5 games ahead of where we were last year.

Jan, I am envious. I am guessing that my pics from Tealledega next weekend will not garner as much interest.

I do not want to get too excited yet, but something does feel different about this year. No longer are we the under dog taking on all comers but we are now the team to beat.
