How you like me now?

In a game we clearly should have won by 14 points without all the drama it still feels really good to get that win.

Like many of you, I received Jan's email on Sunday morning proclaiming that this was a new era of Vikings football - the era where we win big-time games. Well, our good friend Stenerud is omniscient, I guess. Despite trying to choke the game away in gut-wrenching fashion, they stepped up with a huge drive when it mattered. Mason Crosby will be receiving a fruit and wine basket from the BG household this holiday season.

MCA, apparently, hasn't fully bought-in, as he called to ask "how we won the game" after leaving the Chicago sports bar following the punt return TD.

The scary thing is that we actually should have been blowing them out. Our D was stellar...holding the fudgers to 180 yards total offense. And how about Jared Allen, playing with one arm, essentially, dominating the packers' left tackle.

Frerotte is 5-2 as a starter. Repeat, Frerotte is 5-2 as a starter. He MUST play better than he did yesterday, though, if we have any hope of winning the division.

Upcoming schedule: at Tampa, at Jacksonville and Chicago at home. Pretty much determines the season.

Oh yeah...did you guys read that the baseball owners are expected to pass a resolution this offseason that eliminates coin-flips in determining one-game playoffs...instead basing it on head-to-head record?!? THANKS BUD!! Would have been nice to play that one-gamer up at the dome instead of at Comiskey. What a douche.

RTS - nice win on Saturday by Iowa. Have to admit I was shocked, especially given that it was 23-14 in the 4th quarter.

Indeed, I sort of blew jan's text message, and the game, off. I actually left when AP fumbled on 4th down. At which point I also sent jan a text disparaging his bold prediction. Mostly I just had to get home, and the other guys (there for the Bears game) were leaving so I didn't want to sit there by myself, but partly I thought why would I want to watch the rest of this? We all know how it ends.

AP is a beast. What a player. That run early in the 4th (I think) from about our own 5 where we goes left, hits the hole, stops, cuts all the way back right and GETS THE EDGE on the right sideline for 20+ yards was truly amazing. I mean, maybe two other guys in the league can make that run.

Anyway, perhaps fodder for the next "Dose" from Stenerud, can we discuss what I saw in Peter King's column today about Keyshawn Johnson? Have you guys heard of this? He's apparently going to star in, I shit you not, an interior design reality show on A&E. The whole idea just makes me giggle. I actually like Keyshawn as a commentator; he's got a winning personality and knows what he's talking about from what I've seen. But an interior design show? He says he wants to be the male Martha Stewart? This cannot be real.

Also, news flash:

MCA IS AN UNCLE!!!!!

First of all...congrats MCA on the birth of your niece/nephew and welcome to Unclehood: it's a little place I like to call "I get to have all of the fun with the kids, but I don't have to change any diapers or worry about trying to pay for their college education"...sometimes I just call it Unclehood.

Ah yes, Jan's prescient abilities are becoming legendary... I was sure that we were going to give up that game after that fumble (AP easily would have had that first down) but give the credit to the front seven who put crazy pressure on Rodgers and to AP for having a short memory and looking nearly possessed on that final drive. By the way, imagine how good AP would be if he spent some time in the weight room... just imagine.

How many "good" quarterbacks are there in the NFL year in year out...I'm thinking it's under 15.. that's pretty crazy for how high profile and how well paid that position is.. don't you think?

MCA: I too saw that piece by King re: Keyshawn and his new desiner show...TV just keeps getting better

Congrats MCA.

I have nothing to add, as the only early game televised in The ATL (it has oficially replaced Hotlanta) was the Falcons/Saints game. 2 safties in one game are pretty sweet though.

Congrats MCA, as the uncle of two it is the best job ever as LH pointed out, they start to get crabby and you get to leave.

RTS - "The ATL" is now official? Has Lil' Wayne used it in rap yet? That's when it become official.

He may have but I wouldn't know. If I were you I would start saying you were from the MSP. The ATL actually has/had a slogan. A couple of years ago the city spent 8 million developing it. It is "Everyday is an Opening Day." I have no idea what that means but it went over like a lead ballon. I expect to see refugees from Somalia on the news decked out in the extra t-shirts.

I like using "6-1-2" in reference to Mpls, gives it more of that authentic feel. There are bumper stickers I've seen around with "Seis Uno Dos" and I have wanted to put one on my car.

Re you still a 6-1-2 or are you one of those wanna be suburb area codes? Let's keep it real.

The only problem with the uncle benefits is that when you have two kids of your own, the whole "going home when they start to wear on you" thing doesn't really do a lot of good.

I think Minne should just stick with Minne. Now that Goose Island's 312 beer has become fairly synonymous with Chicago and its downtown area code, I don't think 612 cuts it. Besides, Hawaii has been the 808 State for decades.

Jan, do folks still refer to St. Louis Park as the "SLooP?"

I've tried to use "SLP" for St. Louis Park (it's what I write on the return address portion of envelopes because it is a pain in the ass to write out.)

"Hey, where you do you live?"

"The SLP."

I don't know, had a ring to it.

I'll give Chicago the 3-1-2 but I still think "Seis Uno Dos" is pretty slick (if you're good, you may all get that bumper sticker as a xmas presents from me.)

Never realized that 808 is Hawaii what I do know is that the Beasties threw down:

"Like a needle in the cartridge when the record spins
Like diggin down deep in the record bins
Everybody gettin down make no mistake
Nothing sounds quite like an 8 0 8

Money Makin Money Money Makin Manhattan
Super Disco Disco Breakin'"

But that refers to a drum synthesizer.
