End of Gophers in Tourney. End of Tubby at the U?

Stir the pot, Tubby to Auburn? I don't think so, feel like he has something in Iverson/Sampson for two more years.

Tough loss...there was a lid on the basket in the 2nd half. They got a few good looks, but Xavier was just too athletic and played GREAT defense (and hit clutch shots when they needed to).

Yeah, rumors are flying that Tubby has a job offer at Auburn. If I'm him, that is the last job I would take - it's a football school where fans are apathetic, at best, about hoops, even when the team is good. Think football at Indiana or Kentucky. If he wants to leave, there are going to be way better jobs available.

But, as Jan says, I don't think he's leaving. He'll have mostly his own guys next season, and we'll have a pretty good core of players for the next couple years. The only rationale for bolting would be frustration over the suspensions and other issues this year.

Dudes - sorry for my absence. I've been sick as a dog since Monday, and in Miami for our Western Hemisphere partners meeting since Wednesday. Made for a fun travel experience. As of Thursday afternoon, I had no voice and my eyes looked like I'd been crying Bloody Marys. F-ing miserable. Feeling a bit better now, though.

Where was Joseph during the stretch where Xavier was pulling away yesterday? No reason for him to be sitting for any of that. And Iverson should have been on the court the whole time, too. I'm not sure, now that I've seen it for a couple of years, that I'm really enamored of Tubby's propensity for getting 10 guys at least 12 minutes a game. The in-game should have called for Westbrook/Joseph to drive with Iverson/Sampson setting picks for Bostick on back door cuts. And failing that, setting a couple picks for Hoffarber. No way that guy should get as few shots as he got, especially when we started dropping behind by double digits.

Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome, though, as we just couldn't stop them on the other end. Very patient offense, Xavier, and impressive.

Y'all see the postgame press conference where Xavier's coach personally called out Jim Souhan for providing bulletin board material? Loved it. Paraphrase: "There are lots of different ways to motivate young kids. One good way is to make the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 in consecutive years and then have a dumbass sportswriter from your opponent's hometown, whose team hasn't had that level of success in forever, write like you're supposed to be cannon fodder for the Gophers. Suck it, Jim Souhan."

Also, loved to see the Big East look like crap. They should have dropped four games to double digit seeds. The refs handed 'Nova their game, or they'd be 3-5 right now with wins over Morgan St., Oakland and UVM.

Why are Wisconsin's teams always so fucking lucky? Wofford had them by the damn throat and choked it away massively yesterday. Now they get a 12 seed. So they have no business even playing in the second round, yet they'll get a cakewalk to the Sweet 16. Fuck you, Bucky.

Tubby's out of his mind if he accepts the Auburn job. In addition to the factors BG mentioned is the factor of Auburn, Alabama blowing meteoric chunks. Recognize it's a little cold in the Twin Cities, but gawd, you'd trade in a legitimate metro area for that bassackwards cowtown? To go rebuild a crappy program with no natural advantages at a football school? Why?

MCA - Welcome back to FTLOSBW and to the land of the healthy.

I missed the Souhan broo-haa

Here is link to the article that got the Xavier coach's panties in a bunch - http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/88295567.html?elr=KArks:DCiU1PciUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

Here is Souhan's "response"

I realized a couple things - one, this is a lot about nothing, two, the Xavier coach has a point, three, Souhan is a pussy (both his column and his "response" were lame, I've written better driver's license applications.)
