If I can't have the Rolls Royce give me the Pinto wagon

Ummm...well....ummm, I will just let the statement speak for itself:

In the meantime, there are signs that the Mets continue to express interest in free-agent pitcher Kyle Lohse. Lohse was viewed, essentially, as the Mets' backup plan in case they weren't able to trade for Santana.

Lohse seems to have brought down that ERA to a nice 4.62 from a career 4.82. Nice work Kyle you are the proud recipent of an overpriced contract in the MLB.

So, this Mets deal. They want to limit it to 5 years? Isn't that essentially what the Twins offered (including the remaining year on his contract)? Would love to see this fall apart and the Twins give Johan a 4 year $85M deal just to bump it up a bit. If he really wants to stay in a Twins uniform that badly maybe he can make this work for us.

Guys, I've been thinking the same thing...but I'm trying not to get excited, as I can already feel my heart getting ripped out at the last minute. At the least, I hope Bill Smith and Pohlad met and talked about throwing another $10 million out there just to tease Santana's agents if this thing falls apart. These guys are starting to look and smell a little too much like Scott Boras.

BTW, when did Kyle Lohse become a desirable starter? What a joke.

Kyle Lohse became desirable around the same time that Silva was desirable. Considering that the M's paid Silva $48M over 4 f'ing years I think I take Bill Smith's approach in trying to develop young pitchers and trading dudes that get too expensive (i.e. Johan.)

Who was it that said the Giant's GM signing Zito to that stupid contract was his way of getting back at the Twinkies for the AJ deal, ergo, preventing us from ever affording Johan? BG I think it was you. Hope it was worth it for the Giants.
