Reggie Jackson is a Stupid Asshole

I wish Billy Martin had actually hit him in the fucking face.  So, while everyone was spinning around talking about the fact that Mr. October made a fairly undeniably accurate statement that A-Rod's numbers will be tainted by the fact that he cheated -- he did cheat which by definition should sort of taint your results - but anyway, did everyone miss that he took a shot at Kirby??

Kirby doesn't belong in the hall of fame?  Hey Reggie: you had 2584 hits in 21 fucking seasons.  Kirby had 2300 in 12.  At his pace, if he had kept playing,  he would virtually fucking lap you, you stupid, arrogant piece of dogshit.   Oh, and by comparison, Reggie, you averaged 81 RBI a season -- by the way playing for the yankees, and the good A's years -- and Kirby averaged, hold on -- 91.  Whoops. And that was playing for the Twins -- pretty much shitty in all but three of his years.

Oh, and Reggie, you hold the World Record for Strikeouts.   By the way, is Jim Thome a Hall of Famer, Reggie?  He has more Home Runs than you. I am so glad you finished 10 home runs shy of Killebrew.  I wish he had said you don't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame if you have anything less than 570 Home runs.

Oh, and by the way, you sucked in Naked Gun.

What's fantastic about this post is that when I enter "Reggie Jackson is a Stupid Asshole" into Google, FTLOSBW is the first thing that comes up! ! ! Exciting. I will ignore that no one has commented on anything in the last 10 days and RTS is basically done now that his job gets in the way.

As for Reggie. I saw this and ignored it. He said that Blyleven doesn't belong to be in either. For anyone that says Reggie Jackson should be in has to say that Blyleven deserves to be in, as DTK pointed out it's a 'longevity' thing for Mr. October (he did suck in Naked Gun.)

Yeah, what the hell was that all about? Talk about poor taste.

I get the lack of cumulative stats/too short of a career thing re: Kirby, but, c'mon, there's no need to piss on the guy's grave. From 1986 through 1989, Kirby hit .339 and averaged 220 hits, 23 homers, 39 doubles and 100 RBI, and scored a hundred times every season. And he was better than that in the postseason - 24 games, 30 hits, 5 homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs and an .897 OPS in the pre-'roid era. Oh, yeah, he was also a fucking centerfielder who won 6 Gold Gloves. And he hit one of the biggest homeruns in World Series history.

Note to Reggie Jackson: fans and people loved Kirby Puckett, post-career revelations about trouble with the ladies aside. He was among the three or four most popular players in the league his entire career. On the other hand, no one could stand you during your playing days, and no one likes you now, either, you arrogant prick.

He also said re: Blyleven:

"No. No, no, no, no...Blyleven wasn't even the dominant pitcher of his era -- it was Jack Morris." Ha ha ha ha!!! Idiot. Is that your criteria? Only the "dominant pitcher" of an era makes the Hall? Sounds good - let's limit the Hall of Fame to 10 or 12 pitchers, the most important position in the game. Also, not sure how Morris, with his 105 career ERA+, is the dominant pitcher of his era. By the way, here are your stats against Bert: .214/.264/.397, with six homers and 49 K's in 140 plate appearances. Looks like he at least dominated you, jackass.

I am not sure why he would go after Kirby. He was defensively one of the bets at his position. He won two rings. Was a huge part in the post season of getting those rings. Finally, he only left the game because he took a fast ball to the melon. Kirby, certainly does not belong in the same category as Jim Rice and Gary Carter. Most people already consider Jackson a jackass, this is just more proof.

Oh, oh, I know!!! He works for the Yankees, and Puckett's in the Hall of Fame while Don Mattingly is not. That's where this comes from. Reggie, of course, being not as clever as he thinks he is, doesn't realize that by shitting on Puckett's inclusion, he's arguing against Donnie Baseball ever getting in, too.

FWIW, I'm not vehemently opposed to Mattingly being in. Numbers were similar to Puck's, generally, and from about '84 to '87, he was pretty awesome. However, (a) he played first base and should be compared to first basemen offensively, not centerfielders, (b) he didn't win two World Series, and (c) bad back or no, he actually played the years he played, and that's different than having to suddenly retire with glaucoma. In his last 8 seasons, Mattingly only once reached the 130 OPS+ that Kirby put up in his final season at age 35. Their final seasons are telling: Puckett had 39 doubles, 23 homers and 99 RBI to Don's 32/7/49, and a triple slash of .314/.379/.515 to .288/.341/.413. There's no way to reasonably speculate that Mattingly would have done much of anything had he played another four seasons, since he'd been an at best average player the 5 years before that. Meanwhile, coming off his '94 and '95, there's no reason to think Puckett wouldn't have easily amassed another 70 homers and 300+ RBI's as well as reached 3,000 hits if he'd had just another four seasons.
