Ubaldo, Frankie: Epic Throwdown

Big Twins matchup today. Just thought I'd remind people. Would be nice to be the first team to crack the code of Ubaldo Jimenez this year, but I'm not exactly counting on it, what with a lineup featuring Tolbert batting second, and a rookie and Punto at the bottom of the order.

Also, it's safe to say now: Mauer is slumping. No one expects him to hit .365 with 25 homers every year for the next half decade, but .310 with 2 homers and 20-some RBIs in mid-June is safely below even conservative expectations. What's going on here?

Delmon, coming along nicely, young man. Also, Kubel seems to have recovered a bit. Average is still low, but he's hitting some taters and driving people in at a more efficient rate now, too.

Not looking too good, as I'm guessing 3 runs is more than enough for Ubaldo. That said, Tolbert just singled, so let's see what our supposed boppers can do.

After getting knocked around a bit in the 1st, it appears Francisco has settled in...

I kind of get why the Twins are hitting into so many double plays, BUT 3 in the first 4 innings is a little ridiculous.

Nigeria is screwing me in my world cup pool.

I read in the SF paper today that the Twins lead the Majors in Double Plays grounded into, with 75 (plus 3 more today). Brutal.

Me too, re: Nigeria.

BTW - we are getting absolutely F-ed by our interleague schedule, compared to Detroit. They've been feasting on the Pirates, Nationals and D-backs...meanwhile, we get Atlanta, Colorado, Phillies and Mets. REALLY?!? Why don't we all play the same teams (aside from our Brewers rivalry)? I guess they do play Atlanta and the Mets, but the disparity is still enormous.

No fucking shit, dudes. Stop with the GIDP's already!!!

We've hit inning ending double play grounders, in three consecutive innings, IN TWO CONSECUTIVE GAMES! That's almost impossible.

Today we pinch hit Mauer in a rally in the 8th, and what do we get? Lineout into a double play. Oh, and Span picked off second. Annoying.

Why isn't Thome getting more at-bats? Absolutely no fucking excuse for him not DH'ing today, if you're not gonna DH Mauer. Why does Cuddy have to play every game, even against the best righthander in the majors? Ludicrous.

I am tired of being at 10 games over .500. Detroit's on our tail, and the White Sox are actually closing on us and gaining confidence, too, and they have Pittsburgh, the Cubs and the Nats coming up. We have to start getting hot here, and soon.
