The blog formerly about a daily dose of mostly Minnesota sports rants and raves with a sprinkling of general sports commentary and a pinch of jaded-malaise regarding the world around us

Vikings Draft 2012

We can go a number of ways with this one - unfettered excitement, guarded optimism, managed expectations, casual avoidance, stout indifference . . . point is they're moving to LA.  Until that's solved, I'm in the 'guarded arousal' category.

FTLOSBW to try "spirit world" for answers

Like Chavez and the rest if the Regulators, we find ourselves at a sporting crossroads. The Vikes are a gnats ball hair from moving, the Twins look - why am I even doing this, we get it. Young Guns was on and I Just thought if we went through the spirit world on a peyote trip a path would reveal itself to us. I'd say at least we're not the Saints but I'd trade just about anything for a title.

Oh, what the F***

Alright now I have screwed up the whole blog! I swear all I was doing was looking for how to add a new poll! Why did they have to change something that used to be so easy! Please someone change it back. I am sorry. Really, all I wanted to ask was is Matt Capps futility proof of the need for a good closer or proof that it is ridiculous to have a defined closer? That is it. Now Holy Bejebus is gone, again. There is a green bar on the side and we are listed at the top. WTF mate.

FTLOSBW - R.I.P. Holy Bejebus! Favorites

Someone on this blog has 'accidentally' deleted the entire section (I think it's either RTS or MCA but probably RTS because he and I are the two people I know who actually post to that section but I don't want to assume things, innocent before guilty and all that.) Initially I mourned the loss of a set of 3 or 4 links that no longer worked but were Holy Bejebus! mainstays.  One highlight was of the 2009 Twins sweep of the Chicago White Sox down the stretch and a triple that Denard Span hit.  Another was of Favre's toss to beat the 49ers also in 2009. Upon further review, I support the accidental deletion of those items.  Getting rid of them is helping everyone move on.  Thanks, mystery deleter!

FTLOSBW Pic of the Week

Pretty similar, minus the killing of 100 million people and forcing everyone to dress the same.

FTLOSBW - Where are they now file - Nathan, Kubel, Cuddy, Silva

Yes, this is thru 6 games in the 2012 season - RTS can update us at the All-Star break.

Joe is struggling (he's lost 2 games all by himself) but coming to town against the Twins I'm sure he is going to kill us, chalk it up. That's $7M we didn't spend this year (2 years, $14.5M)

Jason is providing the same log jam in left as he did in Minnesota - his field play is weak but his bat is needed in the lineup.
He is a .271 career hitter so it'll work out for him but thru today he's hitting .200. That's $7.5M we didn't spend this year. (2 years, $16M)

Cuddy is hitting .400. He had 3 doubles in a 17-6 rout of the Gigantes. He goes to hitting in the ozone layer of Colorado which, lets be honest, Larry Walker made a name for himself doing. That's $10.5 million the Twins opted out of. (3 years, $31.5M)

Carlos no longer plays beisbol.

Note: I'm not submitting this with any sense of schadenfreude either, believe me. I'm just trying to ride the 1 game winning streak of the Twinkies and take a break from music and technology posts.

Science and Technology Tuesday

The new direction of FTLOSBW includes some good ole Science and Technology chatter. Apropos of FTLOSBW being, on average, three years behind what is actually 'happening' in the area of Science and/or Technology, this was from a Ted conference in November of 2009. I don't think you need a way-back machine to have this blow your mind. I bet back then the audience felt like it was living in the future when they saw this which means viewing it right now is like living in the past but also the present and future but maybe more like 9 minutes in the future because of the whole Google glasses thing.*

* I linked the Google glasses to boost the reputation of "Science & Technology Tuesday" and seem relevant but I fear that FTLOSBW may be late to that party too, late like the everybody-left-to-hit-the-bars-and-locked-their-doors-so-no-bingers-for-you-or-your-dumb-blog-friends-late.

** The pic is the inside of my computer. I had to upgrade some memory, I did it all by myself. Science & Technology!

FTLOSBW who the fuck cares about sports files

Sorry for the profanity but watching the twins drop 3 to the O's makes me want to send Gardy some pigs organ soup. Over under on wins is set at 65 and that's generous.

Ok, back to this blog being about music. I'm a fan of this song

Win Twins?

Has anyone looked at the Twins' April schedule? One word, brutal. They start with 3 at the O's which they better sweep. Then it is back home for 3 with the Angels, 3 with the Rangers, on the road for 4 with the Yankees, 3 at the Rays, back home for 3 with Boston and then finally 3 with the Royals. That stretch between the O's and the Royals is going to be tough.

Also it is the 30th anniversary of the 1982 Twins that compiled a 62-100 record. Sure it is also the 25th anniversary of the '87 Twins, but I am sure a lot of people are paying tribute to that team. What fun would that be?
